Small government is one of the central values of the formation of our republic. Keeping the government as small as possible, and as close to the people as possible is why we have a 3 level system. Federal, state, and local. Seems like most democrats I know around here want to shift the power to the federal government. That way they can control everyone from a central location. It is the easiest way for them to make sweeping changes. They point to civil rights legislation as a prime example of this. All good. Except they ignore why small/local government was designed for us in the beginning: government is at best a necessary evil. At worst an intolerable one.

The SEC was told repeatedly over the coarse of a decade that Madoff was running the world's largest ponzi scheme. An unqualified regulator is in no one's interest. Power and size become vices in the hands of the untrained.
I am very much for investigating and limiting the power of the Federal Reserve. Though the terms "shady derivitives" and "close loopholes" are ignorant and vauge. Which exact derivitives?

Of course the federal government, or any government for that matter, is socialist in nature. That's exactly why government is a necessary evil. The constitution is a government limiting document because they knew government = "socialism" = contrary to individual liberty. It's a tyranical force that we should be reducing as much as possible, not expanding. Shit, put down the New York Times and read some Hobbes and Locke. THIS IS NOTHING NEW! Liberty and government are always opposing forces. We are set up with that in mind. Why do you want to override those limits?

Here we are, imposing mandates on private insurance companies, which absolutely must make premiums increase. Then we impose federal mandates that require everyone to purchase these new, more expensive policies.
The primary problem with health insurance, the reason that millions go without, is because it's too expensive. So the solution is to make it more expensive and force everyone to buy it?
The bill in it's current form is designed to fail, so that more sweeping legislation will be required in the future.
Meanwhile, congress has written in an exception for themselves, so they aren't subject to the temporary pain the bill is designed to produce.
We must balance tyranny and freedom. That balance has shifted to a point that would have made Jefferson puke.

An then we have the nerve to place new taxes on medical devices to help cover the overhead of this legislation? We tax wheelchairs to pay for government interference? This is a nightmare. Rome is teetering.

Making money on the destruction of a company is fine. Misrepresentation is not.
Monoploies are great because someone else will kick their ass if they don't stay inovative.

Yes, along as a company produces the best product they define the terms of it's distrabution. Apple has a monpoly on Turfwars as it can only be played on Apple devices. If that model is the most profitable to Nick then by all means it's his business. Now if Nick breaks the law and or misrepresents his business then I'd have a problem.
You very much should learn what patent trolling is as it affects us all.
