It's called lucid dreaming. There are books about it. Most anyone can teach themselves how to do it.

I've trained myself to lucid dream over the years. I have a great one every couple of months. wish it happened more often. you are lucky. enjoy it. I still haven't been able to fly but can jump incredibly wildly high without waking up, so I'm getting closer. I just want to bounce a couple times and just "stay" up.
i become lucid far more often. ie I know when I'm in a dream. once I begin to take control of the dream, my consciousness will often then wake me up. it's been tricky learning to not only be lucid, but to then stay relaxed and not begin getting excited and pushing it too hard. that's when I wake myself up and am disappointed. another missed opportunity to fly or breathe underwater or whatever.
i suppose this would seem quite bizarre to someone who has never heard of lucid dreaming.
I really enjoyed the movie inception as it was so obviously inspired by a fan of lucid dreaming. so cool.

I have lucid dreams sometimes. Most of the time if I recognize I'm dreaming I choose not to control it. Way more fun when you don't know what's going to happen.

yes, if you just relax and let it play out, it's can be a bizarre ride on it's own. especially if it's pleasant and not scary. to just look at this weird world and think, wow, how did my brain come up with THAT?I have lucid dreams sometimes. I have been able to become lucid when something scary was happening in a dream, and then modify it enough to make the frightening aspect go away. pretty handy little tool if you are someone that doesn't like "scary" dreams.

NIGHTMARE IS EXTREMELY AWESOME❕❕❕❕❕❕. I just don't have Dreams often enough. If you ask yourself to please dream a good dream, you will have a (F***ING) nightmare or no dream at all(usually this is true). If only you could control what the beginning of the dream was about, and you can take it from there. I hate it when I'm having a really good dream and then you wake up or you are woken up💢👎💢❕❕❕

i push everything and nothing happens trust me flying is still pretty kool even though its always one of the first things i do. its actually my transportation i barely walk anymore. lol

ul get it evantually. it just hits u all of a sudden and your like is this real? and if you even ask yourself that than uk its fake

That was... Messed up...👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

How can you train yourself to dream?
-
All of my dreams are about zombies, which I am very irrationally terrified of. I just give myself a lightsaber that's 20 feet long to mow em down. Is that lucid dreaming? Lol
-
I had such a lucid dream once I woke up and had soiled myself 😖

I find it's easiest when you are just falling asleep. If you really try and concentrate but stay relaxed as you are passing into a dream state you can learn to control it. But sometimes that just triggers you to wake up. Or when you are talking to someone you know in a dream but it's not actually them, this usually makes me realize something isn't right and I'm dreaming. How can you train yourself to dream?

you can try to google on something like "how to lucid dream" for specifics.
what worked for me was using relaxation techniques before falling asleep over a long period of time; many months and every night. deep breathing while I repeat to myself consciously something like, "I will lucid dream tonight," or "I will stay in my dream even after I become lucid." almost like a meditation mantra except I'm programming myself to lucid dream.
positive affirmative statements repeated for a few minutes each night as I remained extremely relaxed and peaceful.
other techniques included: being very aware of my dreams. developing better dream recall. writing dreams down, etc.
basically I was bringing the process of dreaming out of the murky subconscious brain and fully into my conscious brain instead.
over time, the nightly statements took hold. at first I would become lucid then immediately get so excited that BOOM I'd wake up that exact moment. lol
each time I got a little better.

Also I'll have odd dreams where I'm in a specific situation that doesn't make sense, I usually don't think anything of it until i get deja vu. Sometimes I can actually recall exactly what will be said or exactly what I should say to continue the situation the way I've dreamed it. The longest one I can remember was about a minute long conversation and I knew exactly what the person I was talking to was going to say word for word and I responded with what I'm supposed to say and it continues the way it is supposed to. But that kinda freaks me out so I usually just keep quiet when this happens so I break out of it. It's a very very odd feeling. I feel as if I become connected to something and there's an odd sensation in my body when this happens. Like I said kinda freaks me out. Last one happened 2 weeks ago with a girl I had never met before. I knew what was about to happen in our conversation and what she was going to say before she spoke. I kept quiet so it would stop.

I am aware this sounds like utter BS and I am not trying to imply I'm psychic. I have no control over it. It just happens. I don't tell many people about this because I realize most people probably won't believe me. This has happened to me before when talking to my dad and I've went along with it and mouthed what he was going to say as he was saying it. Then said my line, then mouthed his next one as he said it. Just to prove to myself it was real and not just my brain playing tricks on me. I'm actually nervous just typing this not sure why. Probably cuz it sounds crazy

kozy, so it's deja vu?
bakedb- I meant to let you know that there are several good books on this topic if you are interested. just search amazon for lucid dream.
