Jeopardy is a quiz show that asks questions in a non traditional way, through subtle Clues that are non direct. You will have to look up what I mean there because I don't have the head for it now. The reigning champions of sorts from the show are going up against a super computer built specifically to recognise what jeopardy is asking. It's thinking on a human scale more so than ever.TheRamb Add: 86 wrote:

The human race being beat in a game like this is not good for us. It is good for business who can fire thinking people. It is the sad byproduct of the industrial revolution: the fired factory workers, the abscent clerks at businesses, growing vast gap between the rich and poor, and is one of many reasons I no longer shop at companies that seek to get rid of workers with each technological advance.
I don't think that people are paying attention to these displays which are technological expos as far as the significance. Put this along side with ecological issues and health issues and it is obvious that industrialization has serious unanswered criticisms.
I was discussing ecology with a retired phd chemist who told me he was very disturbed with the food industry. He cited an example that the first ten years he taught nobody was allergic to peanuts. He said pesticide use and genetic changes led to the current situation. He said if he was starting over he would research these factors.
But, I digress.

Anyhow, the all time Jeapardy money winner and the all time winner (75 shows in a roll) are duking it out with the IBM room size computer.

Back in it's glory days there was ALOT less pop culture and films n junk. Used to be alot more acedemic then it is in the past 5 or 6 years. Of course I have gotten older and wiser...maybe I just never noticed.

No I think tv has been dumbing down for years
-
Television is dumb. I did not watch a tube for three years and it was great. I marry my wife and we have to have a megasaurus sized abomination on the wall. Truly, no greater culprit could be cited as a greater social threat than this. I beg my wife to rid our lives of it every week. I was happier without it.

those that want Watson ftw clearly didn't pay attn during the matrix.

oh, and the best contestant ever isn't Watson anyway; it's Sean Connery.

@ Mr Ikslopot- very good points. Agree that the 'mega-tube' is a major distraction to human interaction but can be a great tool to be used tho.
Btw, even if the computer wins, Sorry, a human is superior cuz we put a computer together & it simply would not have existed otherwise. Go 👫!

Wetware is so 1994. Make room for the new jeopardy champ.
