You are mc.sushi. Sushi has rice in it, so you tell me.

I got mine wet I just turned it off, left it wrapped in a towel in my airing cupboard.
-
Put it in the washing machine on spin dry
-
Cooking rice ADDS water to the rice...the opposite of what you want...but if you tried to turn it on while it was wet it's probably toast
-
Dry rice, salt and the fridge are all myths.
Best advice is Hazzers wrap it in a towel and stick in airing cupboard for a few days. if you know how to take it apart do it and run a hairdryer over. -
Forget rice dude. Go to the store and spend a few bucks on "damp rid". It's meant to take moisture out of basements. Get the refil bag..put the iPod in there and it will be bone dry in no time. If you turned it on already you are probably done.

Rice is not a myth...might only be a 10% chance it works...and silica salt works better. But as long as you hat tried to turn on the device (effectivly causing a short on the board) there's a chance. All depends on how much moisture got inside. I'm an electrical engineer for the navy...good chance it won't work but it's not a myth...take the rice (or silica salt) fill a Tupperware container put your phone in it and seal the lid. The rice willDry rice, salt and the fridge are all myths.

Draw the moisture out of the phone. Again if it was too much moisture or you attempted to flash it while wet its probably toast -
Ps every time I open this thread I get a craving for sushi

Dude the chances of rice and or salt drawing moisture through the rubber seals on iphone/ipod is incredibly low.
Towel or hairdryer - evaporate the moisture - much more effective 👍 -
If you take it apart and it break it then your fucked as the apple shop could replace it.just say it just didn't work one day and they can't prove you didn't do it.they'll replace it for small charge.if you bring it in in prices they'll tell you to fuck off

2 days ago my iPhone went on that awful journey so many take.. Yes the toilet. Can't turn it off, can't pull the battery. I shook it like my life depended on it sending streams of water out the ear piece connection. Four hours on the radiator watching it turn on and off was fustrating... along with spinning the yarn that it fell in the sink. Thankfully the telephony God had mercy and its working fine :) the imagine of my mrs looking back at me from the bottom of the toilet will not be forgotten... Credit to iPhone build quality that it still works.

If the drop into water was quick then the chances of water getting in through the seals of the case were slime to begin. The most likely point of ingess, then, is through the adapter port. So if there's water in there the rice will have a chance of abosrption. However if you force air into it with a blower you run the risk of forcing air further in to the machine. Thereby making your problem worse. As I said rice is maybe 10% chance...but it won't hurt it. Forcing air into it has about a 50% chance of making things worse.Dude the chances of rice and or salt drawing moisture through the rubber seals on iphone/ipod is incredibly low.

Do not turn it on and don't shake it! Do not cook the rice and make sure the iPod is fully covered in the rice. Leave it in for like a week!

And I've dried out my fair share of cca's on the boat using silica gel (honestly never had to use rice but the principle is the same). And with the circuit cards there was now power. Water isn't the enemy (maybe to the speakers or if its salt water) it's the short created by trying to power on your device. Good clean water will dry in time on it's own...

Rice worked for me with my blackberry. Can't vouch for the iPod, but definitely not a myth.

A FORMER friend poured water on my brand new HP laptop, it was so full of water that when I turned it on it's side, the cooling fan blew out water. I turned it off, placed it on it's side with the exhaust vent down, and left it there for a week. Works fine now. Electronics are electronics, it will work the same unles it's already shorted out.
