Damn Pitbulls
Forums › General Discussion › Damn Pitbulls-
Heck of a night over here. One of the stray pitbulls over here (the druggies breed them to protect their labs) came over the hill and killed three of the neighbors goats and then came over here and tried to kill a horse! Horse kicked it's way out of the stall and proceeded to kick the crap of the pitbull (now that it had some room to move in the barn). Made a heck of a noise. We trapped the pitbull in the barn and got the horse out. Horse needed 80 stitches in his neck. Only satisfying part of the ordeal was I got the shoot the dog.

Damn.

Pleas tell me you didn't use a small .22cal on the dumb dog! Lol well I sure hope the horse makes it and that it didn't cause too much damage to your community.

You know I can't help but wonder if being around large quantities of meth is also affecting the dogs. The addicts are my wife's clients so we have lots of contact with those kind of people and they are EXTREMELY aggressive. Most have done jail time for various forms of assaults as well as murder. You knowhow they say people's pets look like them? I think in some cases they tend to act like them too.

I have noticed walking around my new neighborhood that almost evryone has a huge pitbull. My lil whippet shep wouldn't stand a chance.

I wonder what was going through that dog's tiny mind? (before his tiny mind was all over the floor of the barn that is...) I mean I can understand being hungry and killing to eat but he never even knawed on the goats. Nothing but single wounds to the throat on each one. Just killed and moved on to the next one. Then he tries to take on a full grown stallion. Got to admire his determination I guess. Just a bad breed I guess.
Sorry had to vent.

Oh, and if you have pitbulls and kids, you need to re-examine your commitment to your kids.

My friend had a big chunk of his legs ripped off by a pitbull.
-
That's crazy. Pit bulls and dobermans are the only 2 dogs that freak me out.

We have a friend whose daughter was attacked by a pitbull while on a camping trip. Ripped her face up something awful. He brother stabbed the dog to death with a screwdriver to get it off of her. He was 9 at the time. Pretty impressive feat for a kid. I don't know they did it but the doctors got her face reconstructed so well that you can hardly tell today.
-
Yeah, I just used my son's 22 on the dog. Nothing impressive. Took a couple of shots. You break out the heavy artillery around here and it will attract attention. I don't need that. rest of the neighborhood seems to be fine.
-
I have to disagree with you. Not all pitbulls are vicious as you described them. The way the owner trains them affects how they act. Pitbulls are sweethearts who are just misunderstood because of some bad cases.
-
First off I'd like to give you, your family and your friends my sympathies for there losses and emotional suffering they had to endure. That being said you can't prejudice all pitbulls into the same category of senseless killing machines. Given they are extremely powerful and strong willed but slot of it comes down to there breeding and how you raise them. I have 2 giant pitbulls (95lb female 125lb male) and they are full of love. Good breeding and socialization from when there young.
-
They've both been to the dog parks and have spent numerous hours around small nieces and nephews as well as strangers with no problems. They have a high desire to please there master and that coupled with being extremely powerful can be deadly if the wrong people own them. To group all pitbulls in that class is the same as doing it to any group of humans. It's wrong. Again I'm sorry for your losses but please understand it's not the breed it's the owners. And dam why not just shoot the f'n meth heads after they've been found guilty of murder, theft, etc
-
Well, like I said, the dog that came over the hill was an escapee from a meth lab. However, the dog that attacked our friend's daughter was exactly what you just described, A much loved, well raised family pet that had never bothered the famlies own kids. They always brought on their camping trips and never had any trouble with it or so they said. Didn't matter. That little girl's face was still in shreds as a result of that fateful meeting...
-
It's how the dog is raised. Taking a weapon the animal in my view is harsh. It's the owners fault. There needs to be dog ownership licences. Hard to pull off in the us. The uk is probably small enough to regulate. to many twats with dogs

There must been a reason. Respect to what happen but I've grown up around pits an never have had any trouble with them.

The kids were all riding their bikes around the campground. No one even knew the dog was there until he attacked and knocked her off her bike. Her brother had stopped few campsites back and was adjusting his brakes when saw it. He had a screwdriver in his hands and he put it to use. He ran over and watched for a few seconds as the dog's owners tried to get it off her but finally decided to intervene. There must been a reason. And yes something happened. siegfried and roy raised tigers and never had any trouble with them until "something happened" and one of tried to eat roy's head on stage one night. Now I love tigers and I'd own one myself if there wasn't so much paperwork involved. Id hand raise it and socialize it properly but I'd never ever take it on a camping trip. Know what I mean? There must been a reason. Respect to what happen but I've grown up around pits an never have had any trouble with them.

I agree that not all pitbulls are going to attack. But all dogs are capable and the fact is that they have been bred specifically fine tuning this trigger. All dogs trained or not can attack for what seems to be no reason. But pittbulls tend to do it much more often.

If it woulda been a lab instead of a "Pitt bull" would your story have read lab everytime instead of "Pitt bull"? No it woulda said dog!
-
In Australia it is illegal to own a Pit Bull unless you have a special license for them and are becoming rarer and rarer.
It is well know that the breed of some dogs plays a big part in their characteristics. Like (owning) a Doberman you can see that they are a natural/instinctive guard dog and this would be the same for every other breed. Disclaimer: Of course there are exceptions to every rule.

English mastiffs are awesome dogs.

We got a pit and have had a few. Depends on how they're raised but our CHOW was a mean mutha F. All dogs have the tools it's just how they're raised most of the time. Like ppl.

except that I've never experienced a lab doing anything even remotely close to this... Like many have said, pitbulls are purpose-breed dogs. That purpose is to be aggressive. They have their place but it's not in a home no matter how much you may like them.If it woulda been a lab instead of a "Pitt bull" would your story have read lab everytime instead of "Pitt bull"? No it woulda said dog!

Jim, you are showing your ignorance. There are a few different breeds of dogs that people call pits. Responsible breeders have, over time, culled any aggressiveness to better their breed. To tar a breed due to HUMAN stupidity and sadistic tendency is just plain wrong.
I used to groom and train dogs. Believe me it's those little dogs that have a MUCH higher rate of biting. But no one wants to out-law cute little Bugsy! And in ALL situations the behavior comes from the ignorance of the owners.
I saw one show that had a segment at a Pit Bull Rescue. Guess who ran the show? A 10lb Chihuahua!! Those big dogs had their tails between their legs running from that little guy. Hilarious!!
Assholes who abuse dogs to MAKE them aggressive should be thrown in the fight rings themselves. And that abuse includes breeding for fighting. -
Jim's not showing his ignorance- he's telling us a story! Gangsters use pitbulls because they are easy to 'turn'. Evil fuckers if you ask me. Any dog that you put a bullet through and still won't release it's bite really isn't a family pet is it now?
