Thanks buster. Like I said there are people that like these dogs but they really don't belong ina home. Get a collie or a lab. Much better pet.Jim's not showing his ignorance- he's telling us a story! Gangsters use pitbulls because they are easy to 'turn'. Evil fuckers if you ask me. Any dog that you put a bullet through and still won't release it's bite really isn't a family pet is it now?

Ah I see. I love the fact that you said your sons 22, I love it when kids are raised with the knowledge of firearms. It makes for an adult with the respect and confidence needed for firearms.Yeah, I just used my son's 22 on the dog. Nothing impressive. Took a couple of shots. You break out the heavy artillery around here and it will attract attention. I don't need that. rest of the neighborhood seems to be fine.

If people want a strong dog that can defend a child or guard property, an English bulldog is a much better choice than a pitbull. English buldogs are great family pets and love children, they are also very strong and protective of their owners and would make any would be robber think twice. Also they love to sleep so if you can't handle an energetic dog but want one that is still very strong an English bulldog would be great.

Pitbull are one of the nicest breeds in my opinion, too nice, they make the worst guard dogs, mine hides until he knows its me, unless you beat them like those meth addicts, and in your case dirt, I would say someone thought it would be funny to get the dog high. The breed shouldn't be blamed just cause angry horrible people like to turn them into monsters

I love my cousins pitbull. Shes just the best, when i "play" with her i throw her in the wall, floor, and i even chokingly fight her we wrestle. And she is the most amazing dog ever. So pitbulls are awsome IMO

I agree with Bunnymcd. Dogs are made by their owner. i can make any dog an aggressive dog. I have 2 dogs that would be considered "pit-bulls" and both of them are good dogs.

You know I didn't think about this until just now but I told my son to "run to the house and fetch me a gun". He could have brought me any weapon he wanted to and I wouldn't have given it a second thought but he brought HIS gun, the only one he's allowed to touch. I'm really proud of him. He followed the rules even when he could have easily picked up one of my guns and not got in any trouble. Good kid! -
Quite a story here Jim. I hope the horse will be fine, and glad nobody did get hurt. You raised you son well.

They've banned the Pitbull breed here in Britain... Although there is usually a fatality of someone every couple of months involving other breeds? What you've got to remember is your dog is still an animal and will always have an unpredictable nature... Just gotta be careful I suppose?

Anyone ever heard of Nancy Grace that has a talk show on CNN (I think)? She reported a story one night of 4 "Pitbulls" that mauled a 3 yr old and killed the kid. Then they show pictures of the so called "Pitbulls". Yeah, it was actually one mutt, one Chow-Chow, a German Shepard mix (long snout and fur with brown and black markings), and one dog that looked like a Rottweiler. None of the dogs involved had the brick shaped head or body of any bully breed My point is people say a dog attacked someone or something and it is a "pittbull" even thought the dog is in reality a freaking poodle.

Are we talking American Pitbulls here?

Typical ignorant stereotypes. I've worked with thousands of dogs over the years and that includes easily over 800 pitbulls. Pitbulls are extremely loyal, friendly, and playful and make for great family pets but like any breed, it's still an animal and animals will always be unpredictable. There are so many more attacks by "family friendly" breeds every year but that doesn't make for good reading in the newspaper. Let a pitbull nip someone and every media outlet within 1000 miles is gonna pick up the story and run it. It's a fad, late 1800's it was the bloodhound, then the German shepherd in the 20's, then the Doberman, then the Rottweiler, now it's the pit. Pitbulls cannot lock their jaws, they have the same exact biting pressure per square inch as every other large breed. It's not the pits that make me nervous, I've never been attacked by one, but I have repeatedly been attacked by dalmations, chows, labs, greyhounds, and pretty much every small breed (especially pomeranians and chihuahuas).

There was a case in the supreme court recently where it was proven that pits are genetically no more aggressive than any other breed. Now all the cities and towns in the US that had pitbull restrictions are now being forced to eliminate those laws. Behind every vicious dog is a vicious owner.

I've seen a chow attack my dad. It was way worse than anything that either of my Amstaffs has ever done. I've also seen bites from a poodle (kid had to have surgery) and rottwieler (sp) both were worse than any "pit" bite I've seen.
