The Irish fuel crisis ๐ฎ๐ชโฝ

๐ฎ๐ชIreland ๐ฎ๐ช
The nation currently on the verge of running out of fuel - well not due to lack of supply, but due to nationwide protests! โฝ
The people of Ireland have blocked major ports, fuel depots, roads etc to stop the delivery of petrol and diesel.
Why?
Because the cost is stretching everyone to their financial limits.
For context for my American friends, we pay per litre:
โฌ2.10 - โฌ2.20 for diesel
โฌ1.89 - โฌ1.98 for unleaded petrolThere is roughly 4 litres in a gallon. Meaning that, depending where you are, we are paying roughly $10 per gallon. So, thousands have blocked the majority transport routes causing mass panic and forecourts closing or limiting fuel per customer.
The government refuse to lower the taxes (which per litre, is something like 60% in taxes)...
What's the current situation in your country? How are people responding?
Genuinely curious to hear how everyone is dealing with the current prices!

It's a little under $4 a gallon where I was, but was staying around 2.50-2.80 before the war started. My state is one of the cheapest though

@Simcoe, get your head out of your ass and stop playing this game if you are only here to comment on forums.

Yeah Simcoe. Jesus Christ, you forum troll. Get it together. Always in forums.

I only get E-85 in my car and it's ranging from $2.50-$2.90 depending on where I go.

Fair fucking play to everyone thatโs out now, great to see. They left a toilet and a mobile home on the motorway at a block near me for everyone out protesting.
When the government is taking a stance of โwe donโt negotiate with terroristsโ (they havenโt gone as far as to say this to be clear) and using the defence forces to clear a peaceful protest, thereโs a problem. I think everyone should vote Sinn Fรฉin in the next election just to scare the two big parties into actually listening.
-
Sinn Fรฉin aren't the solution either in my opinion. If anything, they have left their core voters behind - similar to labour in the UK.
I personally really like the independent Ireland crowd. I like their manifesto and their actual love for the Irish people.
There was also a chipper van on the motorway I think. Also McDonald's, supermacs, local businesses with delis etc all supplied protesters with food over the last 3 days.
UPDATE: THE GOVERNMENT CAVED. THEY HAVE DONE A COMPLETE UTURN AND HAVE AGREED TO SPEAK TO REPRESENTATIVES ๐ฎ๐ช๐ฎ๐ช

No Sinn Fรฉin arenโt the solution. They are however the only party with a large enough vote to scare the shit out of Fine fail and Fine Gael. And that last statement is a bit misleading, they havenโt caved, they said they will open talks when blockades are down. Step in the right direction.

It will be a cold day in hell before I vote for Sinn Fein.
They're a bunch of sell outs and present zero opposition and will perform worse if in govt.
They lost the public after the last two referendums and their extreme left wing politics.
When they had the largest share of the polls it was because of protest votes and not their manifesto. They've lost that now.Independent Ireland and Aontรบ will be the biggest gainers.
FF & FG have lost the electorate. That coalition is not only incompetent but actively working against the interests of the Irish people. That deck of cards will come tumbling down yet. -
Im surprised Mcdonalds did the casey๐คฃ

I say they caved because wmthey went from:
"We will not talk when a gun is pointed at our heads"
They now are now open to discussions when the country is running empty - this government will never be voted in again or atleast, will have a massive opposition moving forward.
Sinn Fรฉin will never get into government. As DML said, they are left wing extremists who sold out their loyal supporters and the people of Ireland.
Independent Ireland will get my vote - they are the only ones who's manifesto actually makes sense and looks after the Irish people.
-
Did gas go up? Didnโt notice. Unless gas goes to like $50 a gallon Iโm good and probably wonโt notice. Maybe itโll keep more people off the road.

Thats literally already happened and FF FG just formed a coalition after 100 years of dispute and simply became worse. SF has zero credibility. Nobody will go into govt with them.เผบ แชแฐแช เผป wrote:

Thatโs a fair point, but SF didnโt get a majority, and allowed FF and FG to form a coalition. If FF and FG were both out of power for the first time ever, I think theyโd have to cop themselves on. And I think that a few would definitely go into power with Sinn Fรฉin if they thought it would help themselves out.๐๐๐๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐ wrote:

SF were the largest party at the last election but couldnโt get the numbers to form government.
No matter how bad the scum running the place is now, we donโt need those horrible socialists given the chance to kill the country.
I do agree FF FG need to be out of govt to realise theyโre out of touch, but their voter base has been shrinking every decade and theyโre on their last legs anyway. Theyโve only 2, maybe 3, terms of relevance left anyway. Thats 10-15 years tops. -

In Ireland, the biggest issue is a lot of people vote for the parties that "filled in that one pothole 20 years ago" - my older family are part of that issue.
Mary Lou is "condemning" the governments response to the protests. People shouldn't forget that SF, HER PARTY supported the carbon tax and till this day, continue to vote for laws/taxes that go against the people.
SF are in the same bracket as people before profits, which yet again, is a far left scummy party.
Here's to either independent Ireland or Aontรบ benefiting from the next election
