As many of us are aware, several players were banned last weekend under suspicion of using automated methods for running Missions during the 14 year anniversary weekend. Several cases were subsequently confirmed and the accounts involved have been reset. However, after a deeper investigation of other accounts' activity, it's likely that they were not using automated methods to run missions – those accounts have had their access to Turf Wars restored. However, the investigation is ongoing, and we are in the process of retroactively scanning the logs for accounts demonstrating suspicious activity.
Some players have raised valid concerns about how these cases were handled. We work hard to keep Turf Wars fair and free of cheats, and this is not always easy. With a player base as dedicated as ours, it can be difficult to distinguish a human from a bot, especially when an account exhibits a high level of activity.

Some context:
If you ran 1000 missions last weekend, congrats: you ran more missions than 88% of Turf Wars players active in that time period! Let's say you were super motivated, and ran 10,000 missions to get that sweet 14x multiplier: you've made ot to the 96th percentile!Now let's say you cleared your calendar for the weekend, bought a few cases of Red Bull and Costco frozen burritos, and ran 100,000 missions – an average of 1 mission every 3 seconds for the duration of the whole promo weekend. You are now in the 99.5th percentile, truely the élite of Turf Wars.
Now imagine that there are players who did 3-10x that amount (that's 1 to 3 missions per second for 54 hours straignt before intervention) – sounds a little suspicious, right? These are the players who were banned and investigated.

Yeah, I ran 180k missions cause I’m a loser and support this game. Give us our players back and stop killing the game.

So it's a little more complicated than "I got banned just for running missions." 😉. Thousands of players ran missions this weekend, but less than 10 were banned.

Please note that this investigation is ongoing, and players who were banned and subsequently cleared will be compensated. Players whose activity cannot be reasonably performed by an actual human will remain banned.

Nick, I know I didn’t get banned or got any warning and it’s probably because of my random tapping, but I dedicated the whole weekend to the event and I was tapping at every awakened minutes. I also only have 1 device with the app installed and I stayed home all weekend. If my calculations are right I ran 192,964 missions during the weekend. So if a loser like me was crazy enough to ignore their families and friends and skip the Canadian Thanksgiving, you can see that it’s very doable. I think that I did even more mission last year as I stayed up later every night. Just to say that if you only base those decision on the amount of missions, you could be banning some very honest players.

Thank you very much for clarifying the situation! I suggest that anyone who’s name is cleared in this mess be given compensation in the form of coupons for psychiatric care.

Speaking for myself I did 100k for the event and had it not been for some outstanding work and Canadian thanksgiving I could have doubled that.
