Should I go it alone?

In a well paid job with no challenge anymore😞Anyone left a job to start up a business alone? Good or bad?
-
Depends what kind of business these days. I own a business and I love it, but I've seen too many ppl fail. I got really lucky and kinda fell into it, so I can't take the credit, but I do very well. Good luck!

I'm a catering manager. I deal with my own budgets, etc. I'm hoping that I know enough to survive! Your totally right. Seen people try and fail before. Also get a little de-motivated when I do Business plans.

Anyone think the UK's ready for Mexican food? Not a restaurant though. Too high COS to maintain. More of a 'grab and go' concept.

Want to make it homecooked authentic, made to order too. One of my Restaurants can run on 5 Team members, has 60 Covers and can make £4000 a day. £2000 on average.

Mexican food rocks!!!!!!

Best to do what ur heart says (once ur head has sorted the logistics). Always better to try and fail than not try at all. Its always better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't. What ifs will eat away at you if you don't have enough I dids. Just saying.

We had some illegals come up and start a small place for about a year before they were deported. That shit was the bomb. Best mexican food I've ever had. And the portions were huge

I'm thinking that already Random. If I don't take the chance I'll never know and may regret it. My wife is backing me on this which is great! It's when I sit down and put a business proposal together I see the risks.... Got be time to take a gamble.Best to do what ur heart says (once ur head has sorted the logistics). If it's possible to best option is keep your current job while you set up your own company, at least you will still have an income until you start turning over a profit. I certainly wouldn't leave a job until the company was established! In a well paid job with no challenge anymore😞Anyone left a job to start up a business alone? Good or bad?

Yeah man. Thought of that too. Was thinking of 'dipping' into something small to train myself on how to start while still maintaining my current job. It was a 'rent a VW campervan holiday' idea. Also a mechanic so can keep costs low.
Good call! -
Well the pros are: yes we need some kind of taco bell concept in the UK.
Everything should be a little cheaper due to the recession.
Cons: Recession, provides all kinds of problems, people are eating out less etc.
I've never set up a business but my parents did, I'll try to remember if they had any problems. -
Sorry. On that Jensen Button is selling his split VW campervan currently on E-Bay. Was looking earlier!

Reaper, as a biz owner and catering chef, leaving to open a biz is always good but don't leaveva job to cater from home or with a guy, go all the way, open a shop that will support your day to day life and biz needs. Owning a biz and spending your own money is a lot different then working for someone. Good luck

Nice post. Did this driving.

Fantastic advice. I'm very careful how I spend my employers money. Worried I might be a little anal when I spend my own! One of my personal objectives is too concentrate on my quality of life and the challenge. Less on becoming rich. The hours, hard work, etc. Used to it. Cheers👍Reaper, as a biz owner and catering chef, leaving to open a biz is always good but don't leaveva job to cater from home or with a guy, go all the way, open a shop that will support your day to day life and biz needs. Also speak to some business owners in the area u want to open in. Find out what their trade is like, how long they been there and what corner of the market they have. Also ask if they know if any properties are going. Try and find one that was used as something similar before so u don't have to spend too much redoing it.
-
You need to set up some american style places.here are places we don't have here in uk.(as far as I know)taco bell, dunkin donuts, dairy queen,etc...lots of good fast food places aren't here that should be.btw if you set up a 'dunkn donuts' style place then do it in wales.there are lots of street venders who do good fried donuts.in the winter especially most people would kill for a nice warm donut and a cup of coffee inside in the warm.

People are eating out less Howard. A restaurant would take too much money on start up to trial a concept. I'm thinking a 'Subway' style authentic Mexican. Got to hit the right location though. If it works? Try a franchise. Maybe.Well the pros are: yes we need some kind of taco bell concept in the UK.

The amount of market research would be crazy! I'd go to the tourist information to see what info they had too. Maybe drop some questionaires? The property idea is mint👍. the best thing about donuts? They cost NOTHING to produce! COS for the product is next to nothing. Donut mix, water, oil. Done. I'm also a massive fan of donuts. Sold them last year! Try and go partners with someone to spread the risk too.
-
Are you determined to have a sole proprietorship? Because a partnership would be good liability wise if it doesnt turn out well, a franchise would be good to.

Timing is equally important. Now is a bad time to jump ship. If you have something good and steady going, you may want to hang on to it for a while longer.
I've been self employed for most of the last 20 years and I'm ready to GTFO and go work at walmart.
