so how is this ‘pandemic’ heading in US & Canada?
Seems we’re on the way to another lockdown here thx to all the media scaremongering n exaggerated BS which is halting vital operations for other crucial illnesses in 5 local hospitals which currently in my area have 4 COVID patients covering 1.2m people -

Was it worth it?
Was not wearing a mask worth my family members lives?
I get it, it hasn’t affected you, you haven’t gotten sick, congratulations.
I think we could have done better. Half measures and lies is all I’ve seen so far here in the US it’s the fucking twilight zone over here for some people. -
Obviously you dont know what you are talking about and are talking off emotion. Masks do NOT work to prevent the virus !!!(many say it is worse to wear because it makes you touch your face constantly!) Its the equivalent of trying to keep mosquitos out of your yard with a chain link fence .
If the first lockdown worked why do we need a second ?
If the first lockdown didnt work why do we need a second ?
You and the people we elect dont get to dictate our lives because of fear !! I believe the number from the cdc was over 80% of the cases reported to wear masks all the time or most of the time !! -

You’re obviously not paying attention because lockdowns arguably making things worse in other countries. The idea behind the first lockdown was to delay the spread not to stop it. Fucking 🐑 man.Was it worth it?

Wearing a mask protects those around you more than it protects you. To protect yourself you would need to wear a fitted and fit-tested N95 (or better) mask, eye or face shield, and gloves or frequent hand washing. But if we all do a better job protecting each other, it would help greatly. Refusing to wear a mask makes a statement -- "Who cares about anyone else. My comfort and convenience is more important than your health."
-
Being against masks doesnt mean we dont wear them , its forced in case you cant tell. Very few people running around mask less, unless you mean the government officials saying do as i say not as i do.

How does the TW community feel about the 95% effective vaccine about to be released December 11th?

At this point, it’s not that I’m desperate to take a vaccine, I just don’t want my government to buy Russian vaccine and give it to the people, that may definitely bring health issues to the whole fucking country. Only way for me to take a vaccine is if the vaccine is approved and 100% safe, until then fuck it, I ain’t taking shit.

I’d probably guess 300,000 in the US by then. The economy will be crushed. However, yesterday I saw the flaw in the system... Why the stay home order is failing... People are still going to supermarkets, no PPE, bumping in to each other, walking through clouds of virus. Now we’re just being ridiculous.
Then they reduce the hours the store is open! Now it’s more crowded!
I think the best way to beat the thing is a REAL 2 week lockdown. We are dragging this thing out too much. Close the borders, stay at home, period. Then the thing will die and we can get back to work.
“Ok, everyone... Let’s mostly shut everything down indefinitely while this thing continues to exponentially grow.”
NOW we are just being ridiculous!

Like I said it’s the twilight zone over here. People still not understanding the point of masks. I get that a cloth mask isn’t 100% foolproof unless it’s a n95. The point being if we all wore masks the amount of transmission of the virus between people would go down. Common sense some would say. But oh lord let’s go and compare it to the freedoms we’re given by our constitution. I’m sorry to inconvenience you to have to wear a mask to slow the spread of a virus that’s killed more Americans than the last several wars combined in less than a year. The worst part is none of these people volunteered to serve they just got sick and died from someone around them.

So yeah fuck everyone who’s morally superior to every scientist that is screaming from the rooftops “wear a mask”.

Yea you are i guess morally superior? Is that why only your opinion matters ? Fuck you too you silly fuck !! Plenty of scientists land on both sides of this argument -
CDC says wear a mask and everyone cries about how we have to follow made up rules. But the CDC also says 480k people per year in the US are killed by smoking but cigarettes aren’t illegal. Where’s your moral outrage there?
-The difference is you choose to smoke a cigarette every time you buy one and smoke one, nobody chooses to get COVID kinda apples to oranges. Also they aren’t “made up rules”, in some states they’re mandated by your local government.
-Plenty of “Scientists” land on both sides of the aisle? Someone’s out in the boonies and can only get Fox News? Look around if the media is corrupt and you can’t believe a word of it, then look at every other country in the world. The difference in approach is night and day. That also doesn’t mean I agree with declaring damn near martial law and forcing citizens to stay in their homes except for the bare necessities. This is why I think masks are the way forward.
-
Pretty sure the people choosing not to wear a mask are “choosing” to get Covid. Same thing. I guess nice try at differentiating them though.
Listen you want everyone to comply I get it. But I will continue to not wear a face diaper and you can continue to cry about it. Not gonna change shit 🤷🏻♂️ -

Last I was aware, smoking cigarettes in public places that can effect other people (airplanes, restaurants, schools, theaters, hospitals, retail stores, etc) is illegal. It's your right to smoke, but it's not your right to force others to have to breathe in your smoke. Hurt yourself all you want, but don't hurt your neighbors.
Don't wear a mask 24/7. But wearing it in public protects the public. You're being selfish and inconsiderate of others. No different than rioting over an issue that you don't like, except refusing to wear a mask is more devious. It's biological warfare against our own neighbors.
-
Surgical masks are designed to protect the surgical field. The wearer gets a smaller amount of protection than the patient under anesthesia. They are designed for the surgeon to wear to protect his patients, not himself. But you know this. You just don't care about others.
-
Pretty sure there are lots of situations where people aren’t properly wearing masks, or aren’t wearing them at all (ie: while eating at restaurants) so that doesn’t help. Let’s just say masks are only a tiny bit effective, doesn’t helping out “just a little” mean anything? Freedom is important, yes, but this isn’t a slippery slope situation, gov isn’t getting anything out of a mask mandate. They are just trying to help protect people anyway possible. The virus IS spreading. People ARE dieing. I’ve known several people that have tested positive and they are fine now. Does that mean everybody is or will be? No.

What I know: 1) out and about in north GA and south FL just this last week only 50% of the people we ran into were masked. Sat in the ER in GA for 2 hrs with my wife and had to move her twice when sick people without masks on sat down near us. They glared at us for moving. It’s a political thing up there. Walking the dog in Ocala Florida while the car charged up we saw 100s of people going in and out of stores without a mask in sight. 2) masks of almost any sort work well at preventing the spread of virus from a person the 3 or 4 days before they show symptoms...that is just the way covid works unlike the flu where contagion kicks in about the same time you feel symptoms. 3) kn95 and n95 masks work well at protecting you if you are surrounded by people not wearing masks or are indoors where air has become contaminated (poor filtering/circulation/lots of people). As a woodworker with allergies I’ve protected myself from dust and pollen that way my entire life. Sure not 100% effective but nothing in life is.

You shouldn't have to be told to be a good citizen and helpful neighbor and to do the right thing during a worldwide health crisis. But then some people are dense, dumbasses, idiots or pumpkins.
-
BTW, I do not support the government restricting businesses. But I do think people need to mask up. And wash your hands too.
-
Gut feel is that most people who rail against mask wearing and other covid restrictions haven’t lost someone they know to covid yet. My niece had covid early on and recovered after 3 weeks but still has rattle in lungs that hasn’t gotten better (both lobes). A high school classmate of mine in rural MN died of covid (he was convinced it was a hoax). And an ex coworker recovered from covid after being intubated for a while but was unfortunately released into hospice care due to severe damage to his heart (lungs are fine but heart is only at 20% so isn’t expected to survive). I really hope they get this under control before even more people out there have to deal with losing people they know. We have probably 6 months to go before enough vaccine is able to be distributed to turn the corner so I hope everyone in turfwars works hard at not becoming a statistic. I’ve had to go into the hospital in SW FL for two procedures this year and believe me the atmosphere there is downright scary...at least the times I went.
