As temperatures drop in Florida, so do the iguanas. With lows hitting the 30s and 40s in the Miami area Tuesday night, iguanas have become so cold that they slow down or become entirely immobile and fall from the trees, according to the National Weather Service Miami-South Florida

They don’t (usually) die. Just shut down until they warm up. They leave a mean dent in a hood though.Persephone wrote:

Seriously though, are you guys keeping up with the news about the new coronavirus? We’ve got a 2nd suspected case in Texas. They are still waiting for results about the 1st one. I feel bad for the 56 million people on lockdown in China though. That’s unprecedented.
-
Interesting that some how a state full of dumb rednecks and hicks always seem to be one of the first places in the US that’s catches a virus from abroad. I’ve heard of this virus but I really have limited my exposure to “news”. I’ve learned that life goes on whether I watch it not.

It may not end up being as serious as SARS. 56 people have died so far, but the 1st case only occurred in mid-December. It’s already spreading worldwide - Asia, US, Europe, Australia, & Canada (Canada pending confirmation). They are trying to quarantine people to limit the spread. Since it’s brand new, there is currently no vaccine. That’s why they have 56 million people in China on lockdown. This is history that will be remembered. I find that quite interesting, to say the least. A lot of people in China are scared.

Sorry, that won’t help you with this virus.Uh. I have my flu shot! Ahahahah.
Here are the confirmed cases in the US so far:
1: Washington (Snohomish County)
2: Illinois (Chicago)
3: California (Orange County & Los Angeles)
4: Arizona (Maricopa)All were recent travelers from Wuhan. All are in isolation in hospitals. 4 out of the 5 are in good condition. “Authorities in Los Angeles did not disclose how the Los Angeles patient was faring but said the person was ‘currently receiving appropriate care....The L.A. patient is a Wuhan resident who was flying through LAX on Jan. 22 his way back to China.”

Ok Viking, I looked up some info & have update my tour list. It actually looks like Texas & Florida are basically the same, except that Texas doesn’t have falling iguanas. I’m glad to hear they usually don’t die.

Well that’s good news! The case in Canada was confirmed. The death toll in China is up to at least 80. A lot of countries are working to get their citizens home from Wuhan. The American diplomats in Wuhan are supposed to arrive (or leave for?) San Francisco tomorrow. One at Texas A&M has been cleared

From The NY Times:
“ The United States government offered details on a plan to evacuate American diplomats and other citizens from Wuhan, saying on Sunday that it was arranging a flight to leave Tuesday bound for San Francisco.
The State Department has ordered all American employees at the United States Consulate in Wuhan to leave the city. In an email sent on Sunday to Americans living in China, the department asked all other citizens who wanted a spot on the plane to contact the embassy. Capacity will be “extremely limited,” the message said, and priority will be given to people at greater risk from the virus.”

It’s not “news” it’s news. It’s a brand new coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China. It’s kind of a cousin to SARS and MERS. And the first state to have a confirmed case was Washington. The 2nd now is Illinois. The 2 cases in TX haven’t been confirmed yet. I’m not sure why you needed to insult Texas. 😒Interesting that some how a state full of dumb rednecks and hicks always seem to be one of the first places in the US that’s catches a virus from abroad. Florida sees you on corona virus, west Nile, swine flu, and raises you Florida Man, Everglades filled with giant snakes, and face eating bath salt zombies. Though I suppose technically bath salt guy and Florida man are one and the same.
You’ll have to do better than measly viruses to best Florida man. -

Saw an hour video on YouTube just tonight on this ladys theory that coronavirus isn’t an actual disease but just radiation from the waves coming from the 5g towers and thats why the tests don’t come back accurately

Lol, never mind the fact that it’s been transmitted outside China. I haven’t read anything about the tests not coming back accurately, but I haven’t caught up with things in a few days either. Tests can always give false positives & negatives though, that’s hardly proof that there’s no disease. I think that lady should go and exchange body fluid with some infectious people and then see what she thinks.Saw an hour video on YouTube just tonight on this ladys theory that coronavirus isn’t an actual disease but just radiation from the waves coming from the 5g towers and thats why the tests don’t come back accurately
