I think thats in the terms and conditions. Small print. Any and everything is baic’s fault. Nick is obviously baic and makes updates according to whatever they might need or want at the given time. Breaking the geocoder was unforseen so he must punish(charge) everyone else for the problem. Baic will obvioulsy continue to benefit feom all three geocoders while everyone suffers. They already get free maps, stam, hench, brens and turf why not geocoders as well. The only thing left is to change the name of the game to BAIC Wars. 😂

Is it a possibility to merge an existing Apple map with the native OSM? Would keep a large amount of already accessible map open.

Im not sure it wirks that way but its a cool idea. If so you could merge the apple and google into the osm and have an ultimate geocoder :)

Geocoders are lookup Services that return location data based on a Lat/Lon coordinate pair you pass to it.
Works great when they honor your lookup request to their proprietary database. Nick discovered this early on and built a game or two around it. There weren’t very many apps that were location aware in the early days.
Then the advertisers woke up and got a bright idea and ruined it for us gamers. They use your phone’s current location to do a lookup of your city name and return a “location based ad” 🙄
Tons of Apps now use location data (geocoders) without you knowing it.
There can be no ‘merging’ with Apple or Google databases because it’s big business for them and they don’t make those databases available.
OSM is an Open Source project that is free and you can use it without restriction to make mapping apps or just use the raw data to make your own Geocoder...a la tw’s implementation.

You choose to include as much or as little detail from the free database as you like. The trade off being the more you add, the more massive the size of the database.
So really, the ‘more development’ is more about tweaking allowable parameters and adding to the work already done to adapt a larger, more detailed download of the OSM DB into a usable format for tw IMHO.

If data is polled and retured it can be used to build another database. So theoretically, early on, google and apple could ve polled and the results used to create hybrid database. Nick disnt even have to do this himself, could have let the gamers do it, every time we plant a turf using either geoccoder behind the scenes he could have syphoned the data into his own database for osm.

What Google does with its Geocoder is way beyond Nick’s control. So is their pricing. The bottom line is getting rid of it may help some and hurt others, but there’s not much he can do if they throttle total daily connections and dramatically increase pricing. We’ll just have to adjust if our fights and/or hops are affected.
And hell no to premium accounts.

Yes to Premium Accounts if done correctly.
Make it 35 DP a week. Force players to play those ads and earn some money from the ad companies rather than putting the strain of keeping your business up on your players like you have for the last 6 years.
There have been SO many amazing ideas to help this game that have been ignored for 6+ years. (This idea is average at best, and is based off 0 statistics whatsoever) 🤷🏼♀️

Why can’t there be an in game map? why does TW have to rely on a 3rd party source? Just curious why that couldn’t happen.

Easy fix, the “game” should know the response you get from clicking on that button. If you get a “no ad” response the don compensates and gives you the 5 points for the attempt.

I agree, i play dragonvale with my kids and watch 3-4 videos a day for gems and other items. Never once has there been an issue with the videos in that game. -
I’m fine with a premium account. I would want no ads unless I decide to go to don n watch but free players should have to watch a video after an allotted amount of gameplay but still have option to visit don every 24hrs. Seems would create revenue

Problem is, it’s too late for things like premium accounts. That would’ve been a good idea like 5 years ago.

I say dump the 3rd party geo’s.
However,you must then delete all turf in invalid areas,for fairness to all players.
I can’t see any other option that would work without diminishing the lifespan of this game. -
Yes easy, the framework is already there, the game knows a button was pressed and the video completed. Thats how you get your don points. Just a matter of adding another condition in the function thats already written. Easy.

The coordinates of all existing turf should be known, update osm with what currently is in place as valid locations. No reason the reinvent the wheel so to speak. It would encompass google and apple geocoder locations.

No to premium accounts? Come on, guys, there have been premium accounts for years. Those who decide to spend more, have better accounts, without much of a ceiling at all.
