Concealed Carry
Forums › General Discussion › Concealed Carry-
Does anyone do it? I grew up in a family that was very big on guns but never felt the need to carry. With the way things have been going in the US recently I finally made the decision to get my concealed carry permit and a small pistol. Any tips or suggestions from long time carriers?

I carry. Smith Wesson .40 cal.

Study the penal code specifically and get protection insurance with a local service. Here in Texas we have something called Texas Law Shield. They have full time lawyers in case of anything was to happen you can call and ask any question you may have before the police arrive on the scene. I am glad you took upon yourself to protect yourself, your family and your property.

And a good tip, find a good gun forum for the state you live in. Read read read, ask questions.

Invest in the range!!! Learn close combat and preferably use a higher caliber.
I conceal and open carry depending on the situation. Know when you leave your house to make sure you can carry at the places you may go.
30.6 and 30.7 signs do not permit you to carry on their property so prep for times when you decide to carry.
People are easily triggered and are for some reason offended when they see you carrying so I prefer conceal carry.
I bought a reliable conceal holster called CrossBreed. I can wear it very comfortable around the house and even when driving.

That’s all shitty advice. Always be ready to pull and shoot. Don’t waste time with questions, just fire at whoever is closest. Make sure the safety is off while carrying. That split second having to turn safety off could be the difference you surviving or being filled with lead.

Understand that you’ll now need to be able to deescalate situations more than ever. When you carry a gun, it removes the option of fighting or allowing a fight to even come close to occurring. Strange that people are so worried for their safety, though. I lived in a large city and moved to an even bigger one now. I rarely feel unsafe.

Have you ever taken a LTC course?
There are laws that mandate to keep my gun in a holster even if bodily injury is done.
It’s actually sad I have to actually have lawyers to protect me even if I decide to protect my family in a case of lethal force. Any time you decide to take your gun out without justification, at any case it is always almost concidered a felony and can ruin your life.

Your feelings can be true but it doesn’t reflect the reality when that day comes when you hoped to protect yourself or your family. None of us know when that day will come but we will sure as hell be prepared when it comes.

I still conceal a sawed of shoot gun if I’m walking my dog to the park...lots of crazy Somalians love to jump older drunks... serious and true.

Surely concealed carry is preferable. Open carry just makes you the first priority to any observant combatant.

It also has the opposite effect as well. It’s the same effect when robbers fleeing the scene right when they see there are law enforcement on the premises.

Let’s get a statistic. Ask a percentage of criminals would they rob a store if they seen 1 or 2 people open carrying. Would they more likely rob the store or avoid the store and choose another?
Let’s see. -

Let’s see.No LTC in any of the states I’ve lived in. What I am saying is w/o a gun, you have the option of fighting, pushing someone away, etc. With a gun, you can’t risk someone grabbing you in any way and getting ahold of the firearm. It’s a different mentality. Well, for me it was.
I’m not that paranoid nor do I spend time wondering when someone may run up on me in the street. I did like having a gun at the house and wish I could have one here.

I wish I can sit down with you over a cup of coffee (or beer, whatever you choose) and talk about how paranoia is sometimes a good thing depending on where you are or live. It’s called human instinct. It’s a natural means to protect ones self. If we don’t have this, then we are either slaves or mentally challenged(no pun intended

And to respond to the “open carry” objection. That is why I do both conceal and open for different reasons and depending where I’m going to go.☦ΔUGUSTIΠΣ☦ wrote:

Augustine - I think I’ve lived in areas and been through stuff most my life where paranoia is warranted. Where it can either consume you or you can learn to survive more carefree. If you really wanna discuss it, you can message me. Always open to discuss 1-on-1.

While i believe in owning guns i’m not thrilled with the idea of paranoia. First order of business is doing research and moving out of an area that keeps you paranoid. Move some place safe where you could conceivably leave your garage doors open and your house unlocked and still feel safe. I’m not saying to be stupid and do that but living in the right area is the first thing i would worry about. I’m in a good neighborhood and even city. I’m not saying that shit doesn’t happen but we have low crime and our neighbors are very proctective.

A healthy amount of paranoia is ok. Considering the natural instinct to survive of course.
Don’t want to take a shit and not be ready to take out the cartel if they so choose to bust in.
-
i chalk up that initial part of paranoia to plain old common sense :) everyone should be ready for the cartel to bust in while you are shitting. ;)

Without some wreckless moments we would miss things like Vincent in pulp fiction “Oh, man, I shot Marvin in the face!”
