Few know that systematic reviews of hospital charts found that even properly prescribed drugs (aside from misprescribing, overdosing, or self-prescribing) cause about 1.9 million hospitalizations a year. Another 840,000 hospitalized patients are given drugs that cause serious adverse reactions for a total of 2.74 million serious adverse drug reactions. About 128,000 people die from drugs prescribed to them. This makes prescription drugs a major health risk, ranking 4th with stroke as a leading cause of death. The FDA does not acknowledge these facts and instead gathers a small fraction of the cases.
So if mainstream media is going to make a big deal about guns, we should also make a big deal about prescribed meds.
How about Congress give a moment of silence for deaths caused by prescribed meds..

Goon I will play devil's advocate for you. Do you think assault rifles have saved more lives than taken? I bet medications have.

Sure Mr Devils Advocate, the meds you take cures 1 thing, and harms you 7 other ways (that you may be aware of). In America, if you’re lucky enough to have health insurance, you can easily get too much medicine, too much health care. Many Americans don’t understand that all of health care has risks and that too much of it can actually shorten your life. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why we’re falling fast in the world rankings on life expectancy..? No one knows for sure. But it’s obvious that all that money we spend on prescriptions and doctors is not giving us an advantage.Goon I will play devil's advocate for you. And Guns have saved lives. But of course there are pros and cons to everything we do. For every action there is a reaction.

Great discussion everyone!
Personally, I'm just really thankful that the law enforcement guy with an assault rifle was able to take out the other gay law enforcement guy with an assault rifle. Gay rights FTW. And also, I'm glad the gay law enforcement guy was able to shoot the other law enforcement guy, but not penetrate his helmet, and then get shot by the possibly gay law enforcement guy with an assault rifle. Some gay law enforcement guys shouldn't be able to buy assault rifles, but thankfully this guy could.
This is such a confusing issue.

Ok so I have some friends who do the "dabs" and idk what it is. Is it a gang signal? Is it something inappropriate?
You guys need to understand that I really like nacho cheese Doritos and my parents won't give me any if they see I did the "dabs"
So please help me I just don't want the police coming to my house saying I did something illegal. -
Yeezus please tell me you are kidding about the columbine high school kids. Do you really think that giving hormonal depressed teenagers assault rifles is a good idea? So many more people would die front that.

Good points. But transgenders using the wrong bathrooms should bring assault weapons into the bathrooms to protect themselves from the child molesting priests, who, by the way, look just like you and me.

If you ban large capacity mags they will carry more of them. If you ban assault riffles they will use handguns. If you ban semi auto hand guns they will use two revolvers. The number of people dead has no bearing on the call to ban guns. Crazy will always find a way of doing crazy.

I think that tighter control is necessary. The guy was on a few watch lists because he was a domestic abuser and would harass people, but he still was able to purchase a handgun. I think that's an issue.

I'm not saying that watch lists should be an instant disqualification. I believe that psych evaluations should be performed on people who wish to own a gun. I also believe that a gun locker should be required for some guns. Also, we should add mandatory waiting periods between payment and pickup. I think Texas and some other states have bad laws i.e. their gun show laws that allow buyers at gun shows to bypass background checks. Also, I believe you shouldn't be allowed to sell guns privately, because that bypasses background checks.

Sales from person to person are still required to go through a background check in my state and gun shows bypass the background check but how many murders are committed with guns bought at these events. Even if you do a person to person sale with a gun and just do a bill of sale you should know who you are selling you gun to. As far as a wait period goes if I have a permit to carry and already own a gun what's the difference in one more you go through a background check for every gun bought outside of a 24 hour period. If the criteria on the background check doesn't change and you haven't committed any act to keep you from buying the gun two days or a week doesn't change anything.

Listen Big Gay Al... Christianity, Judaism, and Islam taken as written are vile, immoral, and frankly fictitious controls on human society that need at least SERIOUS reconsideration.
Islam [and insert other religions here] is not a race. It's a set of (bad) ideas. You can't be bigoted, racist, or slanderous against an ideology. Who gives a shit what the practitioners look like?
It's not the gun that's the problem here, ya know? I think that's what you were getting at with the priest comment.

I believe the background checks as they exist are not enough. The solution is to review and consider, not throw up your hands and decide mass shootings are just part of American life.

Consider if you will, that instead of blaming religion, inanimate objects, sexuality or other things, we look deeper.
Society is like a machine, you have many moving working parts that make a whole.
Everything in society is based off of a simple basic unit. It has been called a family. In the family you learn how to act, what is right and wrong, how to use inanimate objects. When there is a focus on families (mother, father, children) then society works wonderfully, but when this unit fails then there is a downfall, that is where people begin to kill, rape, maim, and progress slows, stops, and even reverses.
Govt cannot save you now, you need to look into the family and start a cycle that will change the world. -

This angers me. What the fuck does family have to do with this particular incident? His family gave him the values necessary to carry out this attack. I'd say we would be better off if he was orphaned as a baby.

Let's say anyone on a watchlist wouldn't be allowed to buy a gun. Who would be in charge of making the decision to place someone on a watch list?
The government?
Psychologists appointed by the government?Sounds like an easy way to deny anyone their constitutional rights...

When I was in high school, some students that hunted had their rifles in their rear truck windows, and no one ever got shot....and it's kinda lame some libs here bring up high schoolers having guns when yeezus said everyone needs one. Why not just go all the way and say, "oh, so should we give toddlers guns too?" Lol
