Own a Pistol?

its not about how rough the u.s. is mr shush. all it takes is one time. you want to be the person with regret saying i wish i had... or the person that was able to stop the bad thing from happening? you may be ok with regret. or if you find youself in a situation hope that someone else has the gun to protect you or your family. or you can be the dead person thats waiting for the cops to get there and feel good in the grave when the criminal is going through the system if he manages to get caught at all. but id rather be the person that stops it from happening. even if its 10-20 years down the road, spending 500-1000 on that is a no brainer. sure. i might never need it. and it will be great if i dont. but id rather give my self better odds.

The saying that an invasion of the U.S. would be impossible because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass is generally said to have come from Japanese General Yamamoto during WW2 although there is no written proof that he actually said it.

anyone use a kimber micro 380??

Like all Kimber firearms I've shot the micro .380 performed well. It's just really small, hence the "micro." I found it too small to fit my hand well and properly aim from outside 7 yards. But since it is designed to be be close in defensive weapon, it would work well for that. I might have bought it but I already have a walther ppk in .380.anyone use a kimber micro 380??

the kimber 380 is for the wife, shes thinking of that or the sig 238. ive thought of the ppk before but forgot about it, do you prefer that or just had it first??
-
I already had the walther. The sig is really nice gun too. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the three, sig, walther or Kimber. They are all quality firearms.
-
you got the walther because of bond didnt you. james bond. 😳

to hunt, to kill, to protect family, friends and god given rights. to watch the light disappear from someones eyes and listen to them exhale that last breath because they decided to fuck with the wrong person. i guess thats why most people want them, me i just want to shoot bottles in my back yard lol. 😉
If you just want to start plinking go pick up a .22 rough rider 6-shooter or something similar. They're inexpensive, ammo is relatively cheap, and are fun to shoot.
A .380 is great for CC, but most are not very practical for target shooting due to size. Unless you're a small guy you'll find repetitive shots will quickly cramp your hand trying to keep control.
I have a sig 250. it's a decent 9mm, and while the trigger is a little heavy at 6 pounds, it is a very balanced gun.
A lot of folks believe that anything less than a .40 won't stop an assailant, but frangible ammo negates that argument.

I'm not gonna say that had nothing to do with it, but I bought it years ago, before the poliferation of .380 semi autos. At the time it was the best quality .380 I could afford.you got the walther because of bond didnt you. james bond. 😳

ive head that same argument, at least a .40 for stopping power.... i dont have the experience necessary to know better. ive even had some people say for home use just get a shotgun, everyone knows the sound of it cocking and noone really want to test it. but i want something to take with me.

Great comment well putI like when people mention knife crime in the UK.
Would you rather someone came at you with a gun or a knife when you had no weapon to defend yourself?
'Cause I don't know what kind of fool would opt for the assailant having a gun when you at least have a chance against someone with a knife.
I know a woman who was stabbed like 30 times and is fine today. Show me a single person who got shot 30 times and can stand on their own two feet.
It's an irrelevant comparison, guns are more dangerous and only have one purpose, to greatly injure. Knives have many purposes.
If you want to compare knives to guns on the basis that both are damgerous then I guess cars should be banned since they're possibly more dangerous than both?
The difference with a car is you have to be extensively tested before you can use one legally.

There's classes to learn defense for guns, it's like with knives but people think guns are scary because that thy make noise, statistically getting shot by an arrow is more likely to kill you than a bullet.
I have knives, arrows, and bullets and I treat them all the same, don't point the arrow at what you don't want dead, don't point a bullet at what you don't want dead, don't point a knife at what you don't want dead. It's all the same principle

extensively tested for a dl??? thats laughable. anyone can get in a car and kill someone. 2 weeks ago an unlicensed driver drove a mustang through a fence into a backyard by my house. could have killed my friends 2 girls. oh you said leagally... i also personally know a kid that was was 19yrs old, was drunk and passed the written and driving part. driving test are a joke. point is your rules and regulations only restrict the law abiding citizen, but those are the ones you have to worry about is it??? its the ones that are illegal, and your rules dont apply to or stop them so all you do is weaken the good guys. when you can disarm the criminals then maybe, but you cant.

I hate the car argument. If you want to compare cars to guns, better find a gun that fires out and back at you at the same time.

Not all knives are generally accepted, just like how people are afraid of some guns more than others. People keep telling me that it's a law in most of the U.S. That you can't have a knife more than 6" long, and people have an instant fearful reaction if I pull out my hunting knife to open a box, the knife that are "accepted" for everyday use are box cutters and butter knives, but people ignore that difference because they are focused on how "horrible guns are"mathamatics wrote:

My comment about arrows was to illistrate a point that no one talks much about them do they, they are more deadly than guns and bullets, you can even get hurt by an arrow (or a knife) a lot easier than a gun, because the arrow and the knife are meant to slash and stab, so thy can hurt from jut holding them, but the bullet is designed to cause a kinetic shock in what it hits (meaning it hits really hard and fast) so it needs to be loaded into the gun and then set off.
-
And they're silent so you can shoot someone and run off and only the person hit would know anything happened
-
On the topic of using guns to defend yourself from criminals, burglars, etc: if someone came into your house with the intent of robbing you or whatever, pointing a loaded gun at you, do you think you would have the time to rush off to grab your gun, load it, aim it at the assailant, and pull the trigger, all before the criminal just has to pull the trigger and shoot you? I don't understand the gun nuts argument here.
-
its easy to stack scenarios against it.... that can be said about anywhere... what if youre in a grocery store and a man behind you points a gun to your head, you think if you carry a gun on your hip that you would have time to pull.... hell no so why carry one. with that logic why even give them to police officers??? im sure its easy to come up with some bullshit scenario where they will have no chance.
-
i love how yall want to qoute the ofds of crime or someone breaking in your house then turn around and say something even more ridculous like someone breaking inyour house and you HAPPEN to be standing right there when they walk in a put a gun on you. lol. those odds are even more slim but hey... go with it 😂😂😂.
-
i have a two story house and a dog down stairs. i will take my chances on those odds that the family will prob be upstairs and i will have plenty of time and warning to get my gun and look over my balcony. can i stack the scenario too... maybe hes a blind man with one leg and one arm and wants to die so he stumbles into my home looking for someone to relieve him. its a win win. he gets killed without having to do it himself and i dont get charged because i was protecting my family from a lunatic.....
-
i also find it funny that people who disagree decide to pipe up in this thread when it was never about that. it was a question to get opinions and guidance of owners based on experience. start your own thread and argue all yall want. 😂😂😂. your arguments or views are wasted on those in this thread. im not looking to convert anyone and im sure yall wont convert any owners in here. so whats the point? this was just a request for help.
