If it's so obvious, please point out the Christian bits in the Constitution.Believe it or not, Ancient Israeli governmental principles consisted more than simply having a King. You lack substantive evidence for the assertions your bombastically imposing. You're the product of liberal, post modernist education it seems to me. It's actually alarming to me that the majority of our voting populous has this same ideology as you; completely disregarding the obvious Christian influence in our Constitution. Christianity, in its fundamental form, encourages the the advancement of the mind, "Let us reason together, says the Lord..." (Isaiah 1). Your Christian "cult" was obviously not practicing doctrinal Christianity.

Republican form of government/godly rulers: Ex. 18:21, Dt 1:13
Religious Freedom: 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Judicial, Executive, Legislative branches: Isaiah 33:22
Should I continue? -

These are the thinnest reaching attempts I could imagine to demonstrate that there are vague similarities to some bits in the Bible to government in general.Republican form of government/godly rulers: Ex. 18:21, Dt 1:13

Judicial, Executive, Legislative branches: Isaiah 33:22
Should I continue?Further, they do nothing to demonstrate that the Constitution is based on biblical principles.
Exodus is talking about lords and nobles. Not representatives.
Timothy 1 says kings gotta pray. So?
Isaiah references law givers and judges and kings. Yes, monarchies were. So?
This does not prove to us that the constitution is Christian.
Please throw in some rape, slavery, animal sacrifice, and death penalty criteria in your next smattering of random citations.

I strongly recommend actually reading the bible straight through, and thinking about the message as you go. If you can get through half of the "Old Testament" without seeing SERIOUS moral problems and shaking your faith in the fable of Abraham's God, something is wrong.
Unfortunately, most people don't get very far and just take the cherry picked good bits fed to them at Sunday school as their big picture of the religion.
Again, the Skeptic's Annotated Bible helps immensely because it categorizes and cross-references the bits they don't talk about in church.
Religion is a poor answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.
-
The constitution doesn't directly reference Bible verses nor does it say, "Bow down to Jesus." Duh. But indubitably, the writers were either Christians or Deistic in belief. However, both religions, Christian/Deism, have objective moral values with influences in Anglo Saxon and Israeli law. Stating that the Constitution is merely a product of secular political science is ignoring the entire context of early American history. Apparently "higher education" lacked a solid history course.

You're speaking to me as if I've never read the Bible. Seriously? I appreciate discussions like this, and I thank you. However, previously stated by you, we can ask questions about the universe? I believe you referred to it as "not sensical." I defend the Christian Faith. I believe it makes a good case for itself and it sufficiently answers the ultimate questions of life.

Well that's kind of my point, that there are no valid existential question(s). That was kind of the punchline to the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series. We want answers, but we don't know what the questions are. You're speaking to me as if I've never read the Bible. Seriously? I appreciate discussions like this, and I thank you. "Why" is pointless. How, where, when... These can be answered. The bible answers these questions (how, where, and when) absolutely wrong, and the answer to "why" is simply made up to control the gullible populace.

Brown don't you ever get tired of posting?

Christians are often called ignorant, narrow minded, backwards (whatever suits your fancy). Do you hear the ignorance pouring out from your thoughts? "...the bible answers these question absolutely wrong, and the "why" is simply made to control the gullible populace." Does that statement startle you? Sounds a bit stubborn to me. Higher education promising open mindedness and coexistence has created "intellects" such as yourself. Look, questions of divinity cannot be answered on a scientific basis simply because divinity supersedes reality. Nothing has disproven the Bible, archeologically, literarily, historically etc. Absolutely ruling out the answers of the Bible is impossible to do (on a basis of evidence).
-
There are hundreds of absolutely falsifiable statements and contradictions in the books selected to be part of the bible. I don't know how you can possibly say the stories in the bible haven't been disproven.
Is it because you simply attribute Noah's ark and the creation myth as "not literal", and therefore "accurate"?

Divinity supersedes reality just like unicorns supersede reality. "If you can't prove it,God must of done it"😂😂😂

Those "contradictions" namely in the New Testament(as well as the Old Testament), have reasonable, historically sound/accurate responses. There's significant evidence for Noah's flood mentioned in the book of Genesis. Again, the Bible is backed by historical evidence/record. No way around that (which you have a tough time realizing).

Obviously, you're not understanding this rather simple concept. Science measures everything within our tangible reality, no? Divinity, by very nature, is outside of nature/natural reality, rendering science useless as a tool of measurement. Again, elementary concept.Divinity supersedes reality just like unicorns supersede reality. "If you can't prove it,God must of done it"😂😂😂

I'm outnumbered here 3 to 1. Just so you know, I'm done posting in this forum. Leaving for College this week! To keep it simple, that's my current existential crisis. College.

So what your saying is the existence of god cannot be proven or disproven? I believe that makes it not a fact, theory, or anything else. I believe that makes it a statement at best. And is you are going to argue some hogwash about divinity, then outlaws statement would be correct, and there is also a divine kitty in the sky named randal.

There is nothing intellectual about the concept of god

There's significant evidence that a 600 year old man would have a hard time building a boat large enough to safely hold 2 of each animal kind using ancient tools. How did kangaroos get to Australia? How did they get FROM Australia?
What did he feed the thousands of carnivores for 40 days at sea? The herbivores?
How did we not have a crisis of genetic diversity when the next generation of every species were siblings?
If Noah and his family were white, where did all the black people come from?
The bible is a historical record of true fairy tales. Many religious folk choose to believe it's just a fable and move on, but you want to make it real. Wait... Is this Ken Ham? Can I have your autograph? -
And let's not forget the morality lesson of Noah and the flood.
"Oops. I fucked up. Hmmmmmmm... I know! I'll drown every man, woman and child on the planet, every puppy. Every kitten. Let that be a lesson to everyone I spared! Here. Have a rainbow."
Later, Noah is drunk in a tent and his son Hamm sucks him off. God gets pissed!
"I KNEW I should have saved someone else! Damn you, Noah! Damn you and your whole bastard family!!! Now what do I do? They didn't even last one generation before they took up right where they left off. All that death was FOR NOTHING! I swear, Noah, you really know how to let a guy down. I'm out."
"Oh, hey... Noah... Can you barbecue up some fatty goat kidney for me? I've been craving that lately. Thanks, bro. Sorry about that tantrum back there.. You know.. It's a God thing. Yo."
