Not anyone can drive 200 mph with 40+ other cars on the track. But my 7 year old nephew can play any EA sports game.

Esports, to me they are a sport and let me explain:
In some games, there is not only "playing" the game, but actually setting out a whole strategy.
Like chess (wich is also called a sport i think)Then you got those games where your hand-eye coördination play a big part: first person shooters...
Just like darts, snooker,...Why people call esports not a sport is because they got pissed that espn actually broadcasted an "esport" on live tv. ( i think it was called heroes of the dorm? Students battleing it out to get their scholarship, on a blizzard game called heroes of the storm).
There are a lot of games out there many people wont even think about calling a sport, yet, in certain ways they all are...

esports is not a sport. Esports aficionados want to call esports a sport because they can't or just to lazy to actually do any real life sport.

We have different words to describe what we are talking about here: gaming and sporting. There's a reason our language differentiates the two.
We don't buy an XBox at Sports Authority and you can't buy cleats at an EBGames shop.
Our collective culture has a de facto; clear separation between sport and game. There is no overlap here.
Video games are not sport.
Why do you want them to be sport? Are you sensitive about it? Are you somehow prevented from participating in some right that is reserved for athletes?
Fuck off with your redefinition of our culture when you have no reason to do so.
