ALS ice bucket challenge.
Forums › General Discussion › ALS ice bucket challenge.-
I just did mine, and Kunk and Weedfarmer, you two have been nominated. Check online the video should be there soon
-
Already been challenged and completing tomorrow at work. 😜👍
-
Ha. Weedfarmer. Haven't seen that name since I first started playing.
-
Lmao Weed/Weedfarmer. He changes back an forth
-
The challenge is dumb. The only one supposed to be donating money to it is the person who is soaking themselves. Even after doing the challenge most people don't know what ALS is so it doesn't really raise awareness. If you don't believe me, do some real research on your own.
-
The amount of water being wasted on the challenge while other people in the world are dying due to having no water.
A stupid challenge. -

How are they wasting water? They dump it on their heads, it evaporates, condenses in a cloud 1,000's of miles away and rains on someone else. The amount of water being wasted on the challenge while other people in the world are dying due to having no water.
A stupid challenge.Sounds like they may be helping those people your talking about more than you. How are you sending your extra water to them?

Yeah... These guys are selfish. Imagine, someone having fun in the name of a charity. 😠Bunch of followers getting ice dumped on their heads...STUPID!
They should put ribbons on their car. That's far more effective and shows who the "good people" are. Aka: Those that donate $1 (12¢ of which goes to the intended charity) and display their tattered badge for years, as though they fully funded the charity.

I got nominated and for my post I threw one piece of ice in my pool and jumped in

"Eat all your food , people in Africa are starving" -_-The amount of water being wasted on the challenge while other people in the world are dying due to having no water.
A stupid challenge.
"Don't waste water ,because people in other countries are dying with out it" -_-
There is an estimated 326 million trillion gallons of water in the world. Common sense dictates, one would move to where there is water. They have a choice to move, people with ALS do not. Also bringing awareness has helped a lot when it comes to donations. God damn emo kids -_- -
So many times in this game, I hold my tongue on things that really matter to me because I don't want to be labelled to opinionated (although too late) or too serious. This is dumb as hell because I am serious and I kind of like it. To say that, when only 1.5 percent of the water on the planet is potable, people have a choice about whether they have access to water shows a lack of basic compassion, humanity, and knowledge that goes far beyond this game. It reeks of privilege. Some people have no choice. If you are born in Ethiopia, for example, and truly have no access to clean drinking water, what are the odds you can afford a passport, let alone airfare and the money required to start over? I know that, as Americans, relative deprivation has skewed our perceptions of what poverty is, but no, some people don't have a fucking choice.
-
Not to mention that there are people (West Virginians, due to the chemical spill for almost a month, citizens of Detroit) here in America who don't have access to potable water and who don't have the choice to simply move.
-
Every one has a fucking choice!!! Passport ain't never stop any body. If you feel that bad go to fucking Ethiopia and give em some water.
-
ALS runs in my family. I have had to watch some family members deteriorate and die from it. Some may call this challenge "stupid", and yes many people don't know what ALS is. However, if something so "stupid" as dumping ice water on your head in the name of ALS awareness makes people wonder what it actually is and makes them research it, well then the "stupid" challenge worked. It has made some educate themselves about it, hence, raising awareness, which was the sole purpose of the challenge in the first place.

I have too much water, my basement floods almost every spring. Your saying if I use less water it will help them? How does that work? Not to mention that there are people (West Virginians, due to the chemical spill for almost a month, citizens of Detroit) here in America who don't have access to potable water and who don't have the choice to simply move.

I also want to point out to those of you whom are saying this is stupid because of the wasted water, don't forget about all of the "stupid" people who wash their cars, water their lawns, & fill their swimming pools. I see that you forgot to mention this whilst on your water conservation rant.

Fine. They're stupid. Lots of people are stupid but we are addressing one stupid thing. Shall we list every stupid behavior ever? I've done many. -
And look be real. Do you think any of the kids watching these ice bucket challenge videos that didn't know what ALS was before now do because of this trendy little challenge? Do you really think they watched the videos and said to themselves "hmmm, I'm very concerned about this illness. Let me research it so that I can become informed." No. People who didn't know still don't know.

ALS donations have hit 40+Million to fun their research. Britain alone donate billions every year towards a solution for fresh water in africa etc. Get the f#ck off your high horse about water usage, i bet you take a nice long soak in the bath and have a good soak in the shower also. Africa have had the problem for centuries but they're still stupid enough to re-populate so much knowing their child will starve or go without water. I'd rather the world dealt with issues as they came, africa is being dealt with already so why not help people with ALS? Would you change your tune if it was you affected by ALS...

Look. All disease matters and is deserving of research. Every family that has ever lost a loved one deserves to garner support however they see fit. I know I sound cold, but realistically just over 5,000 people are diagnosed with ALS annually. Do you know how many people have no access to water? In WV alone over 300,000 people went without water for a month after a coal cleaner was dumped into our water supply. This is obviously close to me as a WV resident, but honestly. Water is a more pressing problem that kills far more people.

If you believe a newspaper then you truly are dumber than i thought. Considering a fresh water reserve has been found below earth the size of a thrid of the ocean has been found it cant be that bad. The biggest issue the world has is food. 80% of crops in america are grown purely for cattle feed.Just Josh wrote:
