ALS ice bucket challenge.
Forums › General Discussion › ALS ice bucket challenge.-
Now, all these people doing this ice bucket challenge - do you think they know how ALS research is done? I know at least half of them have to be pro-lifers. It's hilarious watching people go against their beliefs out of shear ignorance and need to be publicly acknowledged for their charity.
That said, I can't be mad that it's bringing awareness and money to the cause. But shame on those not donating but only making their dumbass video and wasting water. Lol

Do the challenge, nominate 3 more and donate $/£10 or skip it and donate $/£100. If you skip it and dont donate you get soaked by the people you were nominated by.
I researched it last night and its quite upsetting to see what it can do to a person. -

Or you could just donate to ALS without the douchebaggery of getting ice poured on you. That would work, too, right?ShytTAlker69 wrote:
Yeah... These guys are selfish. Imagine, someone having fun in the name of a charity. 😠Bunch of followers getting ice dumped on their heads...STUPID!
They should put ribbons on their car. That's far more effective and shows who the "good people" are. Aka: Those that donate $1 (12¢ of which goes to the intended charity) and display their tattered badge for years, as though they fully funded the charity.

A stupid challenge.Sounds like they may be helping those people your talking about more than you. How are you sending your extra water to them?

I had no idea what it was. Until I was challenged, I had no reason to research it. Once challenged, i researched, donated and completed my challenge. It's a great cause and this fundraising drive has garnered more support than any other campaign ever!!! You're a blabbering fucking idiot if you have ANYTHING negative to say about this cause. And look be real. Do you think any of the kids watching these ice bucket challenge videos that didn't know what ALS was before now do because of this trendy little challenge? Do you really think they watched the videos and said to themselves "hmmm, I'm very concerned about this illness. Let me research it so that I can become informed." No. People who didn't know still don't know.

Ok, first of all, let me be real. I never said that all if the people who watched the challenge videos stopped what they were doing and did a ton of research on ALS. What I AM saying is that even if one person learned about the disease from this challenge then it has raised some awareness. And let me restate the fact that ALS runs in my family. Nothing that is being done to raise money or awareness of this fatal disease will EVER be considered stupid in my eyes. I have to live with the fact that I may still get it.And look be real. How dare any person say that raising money for a medical cause is stupid or dumb, just because they don't agree with the method and they think it's childish and wasteful. Wasteful? Am I wasteful? Stop with all the hate and the judgemental comments.

It's raising money for a good cause. Anyone who disagrees is a single minded douchebag

Fuck that, dude. Logic trumps pathos anytime and any moron can tell you something that kills three million people a year trumps something that affects 5.2 thousand people a year.

Trendy little girls in wet tank tops? Really? If that's all you see then may I suggest opening your eyes. Why aren't you attacking the car wash companies who have been around far longer than the ice bucket challenge? But no, you choose to attack a medical charity. Give me a break. Mike Tyson endorsed the challenge and, if memory serves me correctly, he is far from a trendy little girl in a wet tank top. Here's a little eye opener for youhttp://water.org/water-crisis/water-facts/water

Yeah, knowledge is power. Desalination ring a bell to you? No? That's because we don't do it. So having more UNDRINKABLE FUCKING WATER is irrelevant to the conversation at hand.

And since you're unworried about water, in 50 years when scientists predict only twenty five percent of all humans will have drinking water, my kids can have the freshwater and yours can chug the salt water, deal?

I'm pointing out to you that the ice bucket challenge isn't just a bunch of trendy little girls in wet tank tops as you've previously stated so shallowly. And since you seem to be such a hardcore advocate for water conservation, what have you done personally to help alleviate the crisis, if anything, besides attack a medical charity?

Well, Babyyy, I used my personal money to buy and transport one hundred cases of bottled water and spent my time passing out water in Charleston when the Elk River Spill took place. I have written articles on the need for harsher regulations for a local sustainability journal. I have donated time to the environmental coalition at the university where I teach. I also have a unit on sustainability in consumer culture that I will be spreading to 75 students this semester.
What do you do for your charity other than play wet tshirt contest? -

I suppose you've never washed your car, swam in a pool, watered your lawn, taken a shower more than once a day? Stop being so self righteous. ALS research is receiving money for possible treatments and hopefully one day a cure. That means that I might not have to watch anyone else in my family be sedated on their death bed because they are losing their ability to breath (even though their minds are still fully functional). It means that I might not have to be the one lying in that bed either. All for the price of some ice water being dumped on my head? I can't argue with someone who doesn't live through this. It's easy for you to stand on the side lines and point fingers.

First of all go fuck yourself. Secondly my family lives with and suffers with ALS everyday. I do not partake in wet t-shirt contests. I am a registered nurse. You have no idea what it's like to have family looking to you to help them and not be able to. I saves lives everyday, yet I can't save my own family. Do you have ANY idea what that's like? Of course you don't. I could get ALS as well. I have to live with that. It scares the hell out of me. You have no clue who you are talking to. You makes claims of all your "good deeds". I don't claims of shit, you asked. I've never done brag posts about MY shit; ask hillbilly, we are friends on the devil. I do what I do because it's right not because it's trendy.
And you want to get hard and make this personal? I know EXACTLY who I'm talking to. I know and remember you well---- and I remember Honeyyy quite well.
