My Retirement
Forums › General Discussion › My Retirement-
Most of you probably won't remember me but I'm sure the old timers will. I have always enjoyed the game and always enjoyed the people that I have met here. I have been building up to tackling some cycling challenges that I want to do before I am too old. My goal for this season is do a double century (200 mile single ride) and the hours that I spend training just don't leave any time for turf wars. After that, I'd like to do an event called "the devil mountain double" (210 miles with 20,000 feet of climbing thrown in)
I am not going to reset. I'll leave everything in place and perhaps check in from time to time but like the last few months, I will be mostly absent. If you ride, I would like to invite you connect with me on Strava. http://www.strava.com/athletes/2036618
If you don't ride, go buy a bike and start. It's great exercise and after the initial expense it is largely free. I love the feeling of freedom that I get as I pedal from city to city. My wife loves that I have lost 25 lbs so far too. :)

Good luck to you Mr. Dirt! Enjoy the outdoors and the riding. It truly is a great hobby. During the warm months, I will usually ride my bike to work and get some fresh air. Wish you the best on achieving your goals....

Hi, my name is Rahl and I'm a turf hugger😜. Good luck on your future endeavors. Glad to hear you are not going to reset. If the snow ever melts I may have to get my bike out. Used to love to ride.

Aw man.. Sad to see you go but glad you're going for solid reasons. 👍 You probably don't remember me but you offered me some great advice in a previous life a long, long time ago. Enjoy real life. I hear it's awesomesauce. 😜

Good luck JD!

As a fellow biker I feel your love for the pedel. Good luck with your journey.

I remember you JD. Good luck man!

Happened to open the forums today and was surprised to see you're leaving. You brought a lot of excitement to this game for me (and a lot of my friends) back in the day. Many guys at my work still talk about when you made your way down to Modesto. Good luck in life and thanks for the good times.

🚲 See you on Strava ! 🚲

Remember you ? How can I forget you 😢 good luck. Real life awaits you. Maybe we will see each other some other time 👋 remember steak ain't good without the A1 so stayed dipped and they will come !

Take care JD and thanks for the talks long ago. Check in once and awhile sir 👍🍻👍

I object to anymore vets leaving. I do not accept your letter of retirement. Take an extra long break & enjoy reaching your cycling goals. Check in & tell us about them. Then, when you are "too old" (your words) to do anymore challenges, you can play more often again. See, it's the best of both worlds.

Good luck and life 👋

Bravo JD!!! Good luck on the challenges, those are some monsters you are looking at. The wife and I started recreational biking last summer and are looking forward to when it's finally warm enough to get back into it. You are correct about the great exercise, dunno about the free part though... damn accessories will nickle and dime a poor old man like me.

Yes I'm glad your not going to reset. Good luck with the biking sounds like your in great shape our family loves to bike nothing compared to you.
Thanks for the post ! Very cool -

Yeah I guess I should have said it was "relatively" free. Meaning you don't have to gas up the bike, etc. Compared to my other hobbies, this is the cheapest one.Bravo JD!!! Hey there! I first met you when I took a turf from you that had special significance to you. After I found out about it's meaning to you, I made arrangements to give it back to you. My question for you is: "is the title of that turf still true?" I hope and pray that it is.

Best of luck on your goals. Always a standup player in my dealings with you and your never ending daily turf color change in hunt of airport landers 👍. Wish you the best and check in from time to time

Best of luck Dirt! You'll always be a legend to me for your impressive closure of YYZ! Kudos on the non-reset! ✌️

A friend told me that the secret to endurance riding is actually very simple: every time a pedal pops up, push it back down. Words to live by.As a fellow biker I feel your love for the pedel. Good luck with your journey.

I saw you connected on strava. Welcome! I also couldn't help but notice that you haven't been on your bike in a while. Don't make me ride over there with my AR-15... :)🚲 See you on Strava ! 🚲

I thoroughly enjoyed your threads about airport closures they were interesting and informative.
I dabble with bicycling. Nothing on your level but I know the love of riding. Take care of yourself.
Oh and a properly cooked and seasoned steak should never need A1 sauce 😆👍👍 -

Best of luck Jim... I remember you closing down Toronto single handed. I'd land, try to hide a turf get capped then hop back in to fly out a couple of weeks later only to have that turf capped out as well....
-
I remember you for having what 3-4 airports closed? Lol Crazy stuff hope you come back man!👍

Sorry to see you go JD best of luck on your cycling endeavours.
