He was asked his personal "opinion" on sin in an interview. He gave his "opinion" as he learned it from his bible. I guess A&E doesn't allowed employees that "opinion".
A&E can ban him for that if they wish. People can ban A&E for their decision.
While we are at it... We should ban bibles too. They seem to be the root of all this evil. 😠

I thought the bible stated that everyone is a sinner. Isn't that the whole reason for Jesus? Picking one specific category of sinner and railing about that in public while condoning all the others mentioned in the bible is just plain bigotry and hypocrisy. That's my "opinion."

The Bible doesn't reduce women to vaginas or men to anuses. It doesn't imply sexuality is no more complicated than a preference for genitalia. The Bible has nothing to do with this man's ignorant rant.

For just a moment think of this; this is an educated 67 year old southern baptist preacher who is a self made millionaire. He grew up poor in Vivian Louisiana. We are more tolerant of others beliefs now than 67 years ago. Back then, I'm willing to bet that the huge majority of people felt the same way. He's from a different time and that's how he feels. Doesn't make it wrong or right, it's just how he feels.

I don't get how Lil Wayne can stomp on his nation's flag in a music video, and nothing really gets said about it and nobody really cares. But when they ask a religious 67 year old man who's lived in the backwoods of Louisiana pretty much all of his life about his opinion about gays and says "I don't support it," and then later says "I won't treat anyone different because they're different than me," gets fired and becomes hated.

Yeah, saying that being homosexual is irrational because a vagina is more appealing than an anus is some ignorant shit to say. If he was right, why are so many straight men after anal all the time? Obviously this is based on his ew factor, not his religion.

You are guaranteed the right to not have the government limit your speech, that's it. It keeps us free from federal or state persecution for having different ideas from those in power. You are in no way guaranteed an audience for your speech by a private corporation, however. constitutional law 101 - this is not debatable or opinion it's just fact. One persons rights do not outweigh another's. Your right to speech will not impede on another's to not listen...in the simplist terms. 👍

I believe A&E did a disservice to the gay community. By silencing him, you give him credit. It would have been better to engage him. You're not going to change his mind, but they could use his very platform to show gays that they believed his views weren't inline with theirs. Instead, you validate his point. And you have him a bigger platform to speak from. Imagine how many tune into 20/20 or 60 min when he finally goes on.

The gay rights movement went overboard a long time ago. This is just another example.
The guy also mentioned drunkards and sleeping around with different women being wrong. Why aren't any of those people (aka most young men) offended?

This is a lose-lose situation for A&E. They should have simply made a statement that it was Phil's personal opinion and Phil does not express their opinion, and then let it fade away from there.
Now they have pissed off a chunk of their audience. If they reverse their discussion they piss off a different chunk.
Either way, The Robertsons have found new fans that never knew the show existed. The people that didn't like what Phil had to say already hated the show. He says controversial stuff like that all the time in the show. It's just much better edited to be less "offensive" to the sensitive groups.
