It is selfish and irresponsible for congress to dick around like that, when it comes to the operations of the government. The congress persons who attached these riders ought to be banished from political office for life.
Necessary evil my ass...you guys watch too much corporate news.

Oh, that's right! We don't want it. That's why the majority of the country voted for Obama and his healthcare platform in '08 and '12 and why senate dens held the seats in 08', '10 and '12. And why the house of reps had several million more popular votes than reps as well. Only difference is their gerrymandered electives. If you'd do a little reading you'd easily find your propaganda faux news talking points debunked. Btw, do you have any clue how much it cost to shut down the government? Certainly more than keeping it running.★Λddi★ wrote:
Yeah, everyone knows we need to spend record amounts of money we don't have and force people to buy things they don't want.Well, by a small faction pitching a teabagger tantrum. That's how.

There is so much truth to this statement. I wonder if he wakes and bakes in the morning singing communists anthems in china and has his finisher before bed singing objectivist/fascists anthems for the closer. Gotta wonder if he gets confused with all the world ideologies he holds. Hopefully they don't mix up the drum beats one day. That would be messy.Personally, I blame Rupert Murdoch.
So, sorry about that....😓

Thank you I keep telling everyone who says that that nothing is really in his control he's just the face that takes the blame for everyone else's mistakes. There's a recording of Bryan Callen talking about him having lunch with Arnold and his time as the governed or California. He told Bryan that he had very little power. The higher up in the government you go the less power you have and how sorry he feels for Obama because everyone blames him for everything when he rarely ever gets to make a decision at all and those he does make can easily be shot down and reversed by congressbaptist469 wrote:

Turf wars still running, government shutdown is obsolete. After all essential government is still running, so leave is closed government still left the irs open so they will still take in taxes. Looks to me if they don't pass a budget the just cut the deficient down a little.

Hmm, im not an american citizen, but it strikes me that one party is able to shut down all of that and still the opposite Side gets the blame...
Politics, never understood them and never cared...

People that think this is an injustice because of approval statistics might be missing some key information.
Like... Why direct democracy is bad. Direct democracy is bad, m'kay.

Not really. I've noticed a running theme about this in conservatives circles but I've yet to really find any misinformation on wiki. Maybe because they cite better than anyone else does. Here's the thing kiddos...if you find something on wiki or anywhere else you should factcheck it. Check the cites if you are unsure or check other sources. Pretty much the only thing that's of the devil is think tank information. Which is probably exactly where this "wiki" idea came from. I mean afterall, folks like the Koch brothers work hard at keeping the masses stupid and sites like Wikipedia blow their dumbassry out of the water. Of course it's more an encyclopedia than a in the now news source.☣✠ꀨᙃεϻφꀨ✠☣ wrote:

Presidents either sign a bill into law, or they veto the bill.
Correct me if I am wrong, but have any of these extensions even made it to the president? I don't think so.
-
@King Chaos
The president does present a budget request early each year to advocate what he wants...but it's just a framework. The reality is, the house and senate have budget committees tasked with creating concurrent budget resolutions and they are suppose to use the presidents budget as a guide. The legislation that is drafted doesn't ever go to the president to sign if say the senate and the house decide not to obstruct the budget that year. It's not a law, it only helps the congress keep things together. The president doesn't "pass a budget", that's congress job plain and simple. Yes, they have actually put up Obama's straight budget a couple of times for a vote in the past simply to grandstand. It's a tool to bring in embarrassment to the party - an easy, useless talking point for the likes of CNN, MSNBC and Faux News to latch on to-- to feed the masses rhetoric, you know like yourself. But, it's about as real as Ted Cruz's Green Eggs and Ham filibuster the other day...political theater if you will.
-
The point is that democrats have NEVER de-funded a law once it has been passed.
How dare the re-pyewb-icans go around established convention! It's a law!!! What right do legislators have to change the law?
A derp a derp a derp tee do!

How do we shut down the federal government? Me personally, by staying home and trying extremely hard to follow orders telling me to not check my email.
If you actually need the federal government RIGHT NOW... Please raise your hand.
Since "essential" government employees are still working, it stands to reason you won't miss the rest.
What's good on Netflix?

Exactly because the govt isn't actually shut down. It's more grandstanding. The only thing that's happening is a few parks are closed and a few vets aren't getting paid. Big deal right? Lol.

And please, conviction my arse. Conviction so they don't get primaried out by tea bagging special interest maybe. Conviction would be the other 90% of moderate, normal, Republicans doing their jobs rather than shaking in their boots over who the Koch brothers is going to run against them in their districts with unlimited propoganda spending. Conviction would be Boner putting up a clean bill that he knows would get the votes from both sides so that we can move on with this typical October grand standing. We the people...it's in the constitutionnnn wahhh.

Btw, wb Brown. Good to see you're still kicking. ;)

Every presidential candidate voted in to office ends up being hated by most of its citizens. History repeats itself. Change is supposed to be opportunity, not a threat to the American people. This country doesnt need to be in debt. Abolish the federal reserve and our debt will go away. But then again if congress half asses to the point of a government shutdown then maybe they shouldnt be coining and regulating our money system anyways... Damned if we do damned if we dont.
