My wife watches some silly show on tlc about bridal consultants and the women on there spend between 2 to 5 thousand dollars on a dress alone. I can only imagine how much they budget for the wedding itself. If you're rich, I guess it's a different story but my wife and I only spent about 4-500 for everything. Personally I woulda been just as happy going to a justice of the peace but maybe that's because I'm a man. Anywho... How much did your wedding cost?

My grandfather was a minister and was in poor health. We flew to Ohio so he could perform the ceremony. If you don't count the airfare to get there we only spent a couple hundred. He died a month later.

My wife and I got married on a beach in Charleston, SC (free) and had a navy chaplain (free) perform the ceremony. It was New Years Eve and cold so no wedding dress. Bought a nice long white coat for her and a new fitted black fleece for me. In all less then $300.

My ex and I spent less than 6k on everything out the door. We did everything we could to be frugal and thrifty and still had a beautiful wedding.

The dresses on Say Yes to the Dress at Klienfelds are really expensive. I can't believe how many people (can) shop there. I'm in the midst of planning my wedding & luckily my mom is saving up and wants to pay for it. I got my dress already. It was $1000, on sale from $1100. But that doesn't include alterations, a veil or headpiece, and undergarments. Ugh, it's all so much money, and to think that our wedding at around $15k will still be kind of a "budget" wedding. I'm saving a few thousand on catering by having a food truck.

We spent 10k 😢 that's why I don't buy don points anymore.

Nah. Just the wedding. We all know what happens on the honeymoon so men are for more likely to blow money. Lolbaptist469 wrote:

Wife and I got married in Vegas. Not at one of those cheesy chapels though. At a hotel off of the strip. $900 for everything. Small cake, champagne, pictures, limo ride after. It was really nice. Outdoors in April. Weather was perfect. I don't think you have to spend a ton of money to have a nice ceremony. It's about where you are and the people that are around you at that moment. 3 years and one kid later were as happy as could be 👍

Than only about $60-65k not including various family members flights.

Awesome way to start a marriage is debt.😲😲😲

She found her dress on clearance for $600. Her family paid & I think it came our to just under $30k. I was asking for something small but it wasn't to be. I planned the honeymoon & she was responsible for the wedding. I always thought it would be more fun to blow all the budget on traveling for 2-3 weeks instead of on one day, but that was just me.

70$ I thinks, eh honey? Honey ?

I spent close to $10,000 to make one of the BIGGEST mistakes of my life. To hell with the wedding. Spend your money on the honeymoon!

A great way to start a life together: stressed about a huge wedding debt.

Skip the wedding costs. Spent the $$ on a trip around the world.

In laws paid for the entire thing. They'd been saving since my wife's (their only daughter and youngest child) birth essentialy. While we did have say in the major components of the weeding such as caterer & band but they had complete control over style of wedding (I.e. how formal or casual) and size of the wedding. When all was said & done, it was over $50K with over 200 guests.
While it was a great night & an amazing venue, both my wife & I would have been just as happy with 1/4 of the guests & expense and been more than happy to take the balance towards the deposit on a starter house. -

I come from the tradition where the wife's parents pay, so my parents paid. Attrition's did pay for the rehearsal dinner & the honeymoon.
My dress was $800 (they had quit making it so it was cheaper than it would have been). I'm not positive what the cost for everything else was, however I think my parents spent around $10,000.
Except for having stairs as part of the aisle, I loved every minute of it. I felt like a princess & got to visit with friends I hadn't seen in years. I actually wish it had lasted longer. I have so many wonderful memories from it though that I wouldn't change a thing.

My wife and I paid for everything. Her dress was less than $500, the total food cost that we prepared was about $400. $350 for the hall, $200 for the photographer, and my friend is a dj so he did the reception for free for a wedding gift to us.
