Wedding on its own was 16-17k 90 guests... Add another 2k for gown, suit and booze for the wedding party. We asked for cash as gifts, since we already had everything else u usually get at weddings. Recouped 7k back :)

Justice of the peace we got married in 5 weeks from the day we met. Been married 6 years. I bump in to people who are sorry they spent so much on the wedding due to the debt. I like frugal so we spend money other places like don points lol.
-
6 years ago 9000.00 Canadian of that dress was 450.00 and if my wife had her way it would have been triple!
But where still together haha -
Eloped and spent about $400 for the "minister" and photographer. Got married in a creek in Asheville, NC. Came back, told everybody the news, threw a big party and ended up with a $2000 bar tab. Pretty fun.

We saved our money so we could start our future with a nice stack of cash put back. We went to justice of peace and got married for $80. She got her dress for around $300 and I allready had a suit so I had it dry cleaned. We will have a real wedding later once our finances are in order.

About 20k. I knew some people that helped us get the dream wedding we wanted at a discount. DJ cost was a splurge at $1500 but he was worth it. Great time!

You guys are making me rethink my 100 person guest list (again).

My wife is a great woman she didn't want a big wedding so we went to gatlinburg tn and had a hillbilly wedding the preacher wore coveralls 75 for the ceremony and then we spent all our money having fun no hassle no stress and a real good time

We had about 100 people at ours. Easily 20 of them were family. Do what you want, Bella. I enjoyed the people that came to my wedding. The ceremony itself was short, we aren't big on dancing, & we had a buffet rather than a sit down, so I got to spend time just enjoying the people. (Enjoying people is pretty rare for me too!)You guys are making me rethink my 100 person guest list (again).

Well my mom insinuated that if there was anything left of the budget, she'd give it to us to go toward a house, which is not cheap in San Diego... So I'm tempted to scrap half the guest list, go fancier on the catering, have a bar party later that we can invite more people to & get some of that cash that we so desperately need.ℬeƖƖɑIƗɑƖiɑɳɑ wrote:

Saba loves his mum in law, even more than his wife I think... at least the way he talks about her... sooooo unnatural.Sabasaul wrote:
Holy crap Saba!!!! Great choice in in-laws! 😉In laws paid for the entire thing. They'd been saving since my wife's (their only daughter and youngest child) birth essentialy. While we did have say in the major components of the weeding such as caterer & band but they had complete control over style of wedding (I.e. how formal or casual) and size of the wedding. When all was said & done, it was over $50K with over 200 guests.
While it was a great night & an amazing venue, both my wife & I would have been just as happy with 1/4 of the guests & expense and been more than happy to take the balance towards the deposit on a starter house. -

We had less than 100 at ours, wife dress was made by my mom. The reception was fully catered, by family. When we sent out the invites we included in lieu of gifts we asked for people to bring a dish to pass. My dad worked for Miller (so the beer was handled). The "hall" was my parents backyard, we hired a judge to perform the ceremony ($125) to cover that. In total our wedding plus reception (almost 200 people fed and drinks) cost us a whopping $1000.ℬeƖƖɑIƗɑƖiɑɳɑ wrote:

wow. we spent a lot more than most here... 😕

My wife and I got married in 1997. Similar to Saba's situation, my inlaws picked it up. Incredible ceremony in a redwood forest in Woodside,CA (within two miles of where the battle of half moon bay took place for you tw map buffs). There were about 300 guests, and the band I played in in college (Kilgore Trout) got to get up on stage and play a couple of our original songs. Epic. My wife and I stayed in a hotel at SFO that night, and jetted off to steamboat springs, co to begin our honeymoon the next morning.
-
Btw, my inlaws are awesome. Love them to death! My mother in law is turning 70 next week, and we are all going out of town together to celebrate! 🍻

Ours was 30,000 Canadian. Our parents paid for half. Our stag & doe was a huge success making us around 10,000. So out of pocket we payed around 5,000. And that's including 2 wedding dresses. Yes 2 dresses, there is a funny story there.

Yeah, ours was def an event. 200+ people, 10 piece band, open bar for the entire reception, etc etc etc. about the only thing that didn't go right that evening was the parking garage attendant caught wind of immenent termination & decided to lock gates of the parking lot & spend the next 3 hrs spraying all the guests cars with a case & a half of day glow orange construction marking spray paint. The grafetti was abundant and colorful in language & design.
I started hearing about it 2/3 of the way through the reception. My response was, I'm sure the event facility has appropriate ways of resolving any of the issues arising from this. The damage is done. Make a few more laps in the open bar lines & deal with it in the morning. When the cops came, seems the attendant had thought it would be fun to puncture 10 or so cans, throw in the booth with all the keys & seal the booth back up. It was a giant cloud of fumes. Haz/mat had to come deal with the situation afterwards. Lol -
$2400 and thats just for the venue😬

There's nothing wrong with that plan. Anyone "left off" of the guest list should understand. If they don't, then they don't need to be at your wedding anyway.Mystery wrote:

Have people take lots of pics & have someone take a video. Then you can share those at the bar party later.

I'm Asian, Bengali to be specific and for our weddings your looking at about 30k easy, GBP not USD.
