Guys, I really need help on an important decision :(
Forums › General Discussion › Guys, I really need help on an important decision :(-
My mom and dad are divorced. My dad my mom and both their familys live here is San Diego. My mom and her side of the family are going to move to Texas soon. And that leaves me with a choice. My parents are wondering, and literally asked, "who do you want to live with?" HOW THE FUCK (Pardon my Language) am I supposed to make that decision? We've been together living close by for 15 years and now they expect me to choose? I really need help guys and I don't want to break anybody's heart 😞 thanks - JOKA

Why are you worried about how your mom will feel, she doesn't seem too worried about you. Shouldn't she have asked this question first? I know being able to see my kids would be a big deciding factor on where I live. How old are you?

I'm 15.. And she said itd be better there financially, (we aren't the wealthiest people in the world) and her WHOLE family's going. Like my aunt and grandma and grandpa. When you can't decide, flip a coin. Not because the coin will choose for you,but because in that split second, you'll know what side you want it to fall on.
-
Write out a list pro's and con's. include everything not just day's family but friends, work, school etc... Brainstorm and dump everything. Then cross off what isn't really that important.

I just mainly don't want to make the wrong decision or upset a family

The hardest part for me personally was obviously telling a loved one the decision to not see them as much. But in the end i had to be selfish for at least a second, weigh the pros n cons and finally decide... I stayed! Either way your gunna be just fine, good luck joka.

Do you have brothers and sisters? I am really against splitting up kids so young, I would do everything in my power to stay as close to my kids as possible. Would it not be hard to leave all of your friends behind?

This sounds like a complete mess, I really feel for ya brother. The only decision you should be making at 15 is what you want to watch on tv. The rest is up to your parents, and the answer every time for them should be they are doing everything in their power to make the right decisions for your best interests. How old is your sister, PM if you want this to be a private conversation!
-
Do what is right for you. Sit down and speak to your mum and dad, write a list of questions first if it helps. It is a big decision but don't let it get on top of you. You'll grow up and move out on your own like all kids do eventually anyway. If all else fails, flipping a coin does actually work because you'll know which side you want it to land on as it spins in the air.

Could you live with one parent for the summer and some holidays and move back with the other for the rest of the year?

What ever you choose your mom or dad shouldn't get angry at you they should support your decision it's not your fault they split up.
Good luck! -

Have you explained to your mom what a fucked up situation it is for you, having to choose between two parents? Ultimately, if you have to pick, go with the parent and location you feel will be more comfortable for YOU.
