Ummm you might want to look into what speciation is before you make claims of knowing anything about evolution.
-
Ya ok :)
-
speciation doesn't necessarily have to be a result of additive physical characteristics it is more important that the organisms in question can no longer reproduce and create viable offspring. Therefor two species could look the exact same but one have a mutation and therefor perhaps a different enzyme, which could result in the inability to reproduce.
Dogs are all the same species because they can interbreed and create viable offspring

I don't understand are u admitting u don't know what u are talking about? that is unnecessary because your lack of understanding of something as important as speciation already proved that.

We could argue evolution, but id rather not type an essay. Xbox live is different.
But that's not the Half of it. If you believe in prayer, then the entire concept debunks itself. Especially if you have morals that go along with that prayer. Or faith. Like Christianity for example.

Sorry I don't what you are trying to say. But for the record prayer doesn't debunk Christianity and I have never heard anyone even state that argument.
So if you don't mind I would love to hear your logic behind that
-
You pray. Why would god give you good health over dying African children? Why would he grant your prayers? What makes you so much more worthy?
Free will. If god grants free will, then he basically grants suffering. Free will = exploitation= suffering.
There are no "divine interventions" or miracles. If there Are, why then do they happen to people in 1st world countries and not starving people?
-
You are getting way to deep into what Christians belief for me to give you a simple answer, and I am not trying to be rude when I say this but I honestly just don't think you understand Christianity.
And how can you be an atheists with such strong beliefs but not know the other side? I recommend reading CS Lewis if you want to learn in depth about free will and he has a whole book on why suffering is allowed.
-
I was raised catholic. I know what my parents believe. Ultimately all atheists are agnostics. The golden rule is bullshit. The only plauseable morale code is hedonism.
-
And fuck, if you really believe god came down and fucking made the world in 6 days, your just flat out irrational.
With today's sciences, theres no way you could actually look at both sides, and realistically believe the creationism. It doesn't have a shred of proof going for it. That's all it is. A belief.

Religion is retrospectrive. You didn't discover religion. You inherited it. It was given to you through your family/friends. It's a dogma. All the answers are there. Nothing needs to be questioned. All you need to do is accept it, get on your knees and fall into line.
Agnosticism encourages questioning. It discourages believing something because you grew up with it.
-
Anyways I know u are set in your beliefs but if you ever want to understand the other side better, check out "Mere Christianity" by CS Lewis it will open tour eyes, if you read it with an open mind.

Yeah? I'm telling you if religion had something going for it I'd listen. Seriously, I'm more than willing to actually debate. Preferably on a chat or something. Typing is annoying. But I could say the exact say thing about you. U havnt addressed all my points, and then move on to tell me I'm set in my ways?
-
I guess this is over. If you'd like to continue, pm me
-
Yeah sorry I didn't have time to touch on all your points that is why I directed you to CS Lewis because he argues those questions well.
But why couldn't God create it in 6 days? Time is irrelevant in this....
So, ok with all of this science you speak of that goes against Christianity please share it with me because I am open minded.

Lol no threats. I personally don't believe in anything. But that's not all agnostics. I'm a hedonist for the most part

Creation and Evoloution are both unproven theories and therefore both require faith.... If you believe blindly in evolution you require as much faith as a religious man...

In Response to Johnny Cage quote,
I know I don't write in the forums a lot but when I see something like this, well it compells me.
1) Absolutely everything in life 'requires' faith.
2)What really annoys me, please please please look up what the scientific definition of theory is before just saying 'unproven theory'. That is not a valid argument at all. One does not 'blindly' believe in evolution.
3)Creationism requires blind faith; whereas, evolution requires faith in science (which in a way could be considered it's own religion).
4)I dislike when people constantly ask for proof of God or proof that God does not exist, people, this is impossible. If you believe in God, he is omniscient therefore must exist, that is your only argument, hence blind faith. If you don't well that becomes even harder because it is IMPOSSIBLE to prove something absolutely does not exist. -
Due to point 4 there will always be debate on religion vs science, religion vs religion, science vs science. What should be considered is we all have unique experiences and backgrounds that lead us to believe what we will. Can't we just be accepting of that and stop trying to convince or bully others to our point. History is constantly changing and every idea is dynamic and needs to be taken in CONTEXT.

-
Mona:
1.) incorrect overarching statement. Not everything requires faith.
2.) eveloution is unproven and neither is creationism.
3.) creationism doesn't require blind faith. There is some evidence to back up both claims
4.) I have never tried to convince anyone either way and haven't even stated my point of view but merely made some observations.... -
Johnny Cage
1) what in life does not require faith?
2) What do you consider to be proof? What other evidence do you require for evolution, and are you talking Lamarkian or Darwinian?
3) I expressed why creationism requires blind faith in #4 and this contradicts your #2
4) Sorry, this was more of a general IMO not directed at you :) -
Pretty much yeah. Maximize pleasure while minimizing pain. It's as close as your gonna get to a flawless philosophy as far as i can see. I have other elements in there as well, but it allows for that
