Ragnar - you god a lot of nerve trying to bring that crap into the GD. All this "rational explanation" and "facts" you're bringing are starting to impact my ability to make wilding accusations and uneducated opinions. Please just stop. 😉Now for some numbers.
CBP employees over 21,000 armed officers.
Border Patrol over 21,000 armed officers.
Secret Service over 8,000 armed officers and agents.
ICE is divided into HSI and ERO.
HSI has over 7,000 agents. I am unsure how many ERO agents ther are.TSA has the Air Marshals. Their numbers are not publicly available.✂
These numbers do not take into account the ammo used for initial academy training, which often expends hundreds of rounds per training officer each day. Nor does it account for the ammo used to train and supply special tactics teams.

Free Mason,
I really do not officially know, but I think it is a ploy for us to pay more for our ammo in stores. If they buy huge amounts of ammo it then becomes a supply and demand, Since they have majority of the supply we are going to pay more for our demand.
This Just might be another way for the government to try and put a small foot hold on our gun rights.
Just my thoughts 😬 -

Personally, I'm not informed enough to know. My perception is that it is a mix of materials, war, and whoever is running the whitehouse at the time.

Ammo prices blow and I think they will only get worse.
As with most things there are a combination of causes.
1. Some people are concerned the current administration will try to ban guns. I unable to ban guns will tax ammo so people cannot afford it. Those who fear this have begun buying lots of ammo, in so doing driving up prices.
2. Gas prices hae increased. Ammo is heavy. Shipping costs are passed on to the consumer.
3. Scrap metal prices are high. This increases the cost of brass.
4. Environmentalists hate lead. More taxes to discourage its use. Alternatives to lead are more expensive than lead, especially the ones that function as well as or better than lead.

Probably preparing for Marshall law or disarming citizens. I believe it was Thomas Jefferson that said for a people to be free they must have the right to bear arms. Take this right from us and we have no way to remain a free people the government will have all power. I truly believe in this concept.

The problem with governments is they do not reward cost saving and efficiencies. If you save a million in your budget they don't reward you with letting you keep it to save up for other things. They say hey you must not need all of it and cut that budget by a million. So people in government find new and creative ways to go over budget so they can ask for more next year. Just a vicious cycle.

I work for a small county and its always the same every year. Begining of the year it's always careful with the money gotta make it stretch. Middle of the year it's we don't have the money. End of the year they are always looking for training or new equipment to purchase even if we don't need it.

The govt is preparing for the zombie apocalypse....and so should you.

The story I heard, and this was from a reloaded so they have a better grasp of what things cost, is everything has gone up in price a little, but its the brass that has gone crazy. He attributed it to the military's demand about the time we got heavily involved in Iraq. Why just the brass, I don't know but that is what I've been told.ƑƦཇཇ☠ཀaʂ٥ท wrote:

...You know nothing about shooting, don't you? You can easily recycle ammo by saving spent casings and getting some lead and gunpowder, measuring it properly, cutting the lead properly, and putting it all together. It's time consuming, but it's cheap, and you can even make your own cartridges, law permitting!Cracker-Jagger wrote:

I'm not insulting you, but let's hope this never happens..Call it a conspiracy theory or not but if you can imagin a civil war in this country. Who would win blue states or red? The US military is spread thin. US soldiers will have a difficult time firing on fellow Americans. So other countries will offer "aid". A US civil war is a huge opportunity for countries like Iran, China, and Russia to want to influence somehow. If you think about it. We are always sticking our hands in everyone else's issues why wouldn't other countries aid in squashing an "up rising" or "civil war". The US would be broken up into section. Kind of like east and west Berlin.

I just read that in addition to all the normal departments that typically buy ammo, meaning have armed agents, the national weather service has ordered 46,000 rounds.
I took some meteorology classes in college and spent a fair amount of time at the nws building. They do have armed security for the building, but its all private contract.
I'm thinking there should be a rational excuse for this, and the dhs buying ammo can be explained. But this one stumps me.

NOAA has armed agents and officers too. Not many armed officers, but they regulate the fisheries industries and a few other areas and those officers are armed. Additionally, almost all govt agencies have an Office of Inspector General (OIG), that is responsible for investigating fraud or other crimes committed in the agencies programs, those agents are also armed.I just read that in addition to all the normal departments that typically buy ammo, meaning have armed agents, the national weather service has ordered 46,000 rounds.

First, it would only affect international trafficking, and second, the Senate would have to ratify it to put it into effect, which is unlikely given the NRA stranglehold on Congress.

Sector and cant replenish stock!!!
