  This is true. One word answers = almost no interest. Or she's busy. Either one. If she does that though just say "Cool. Well I've been up to .... Or I've done ...". Just let the conversation flow

  Do some research, where she played sports, where she is gonna be playing--- ask about the opposing teams, how she thinks they are gonna do against them.
  Her music--- see where some are playing. Ask if she heard that so and so band are doing a tour.
  Common points of interest--- have a couple different things you can bring up that you know she is interested in.
  Start like Jon Allen said, and have a couple diff things in mind to bring up.

  Agree, one word answers are usually lack of interest. But what if she is just plain shy and unsure of what to say nxt. And perhaps not a good convo starter like me?

  Another couple things.
  1- do you always text her first?
  2- does she give one word answers a lot over text?
  3- over text do you always have to ask questions or say stuff to keep the convo going?

After you find something you both like, casually plan to meet again. For example, if it was a famous singer create a convo like this:
  You: Man, I love that singer too especially when he/she sang (insert details here)
  Her: I know I love that!
  You: Hey maybe we could go see him perform sometime.
  (go from there)
  I hope that helped. P.S. don't set up a set date in that convo, because it may seem planned. Also, if you don't make a date then, you have an exuse to get her number!

You gotta start small, find a movie she wants to see, buy 2 tickets in advance. Then tell her you were going to see it with someone else, but the other person bailed on you, then ask if she wants to go. If she does like you she's probably gonna say yes in a heartbeat.

  If she rejects you invite one of her friends. And just be a nice guy, lively and fun. You already said that you dont' have a problem talking to other girls so this should be easy for you.
