Which famous, real, fictional, historical, personal, figure do you admire most?
I'm an American, and I admire the Doctor. Arguably British. In reality he's a fictional British creation. But he's not actually Brit in the show. -

Gorbachev; good communist.
Dostoyevsky; C&P is a fav 📖
Karl Marx (Socialism and communism is more fair for the working class. capitalism is über flawed and easily corruptible for the top & I agree) -
Winston Churchill.
He recognized evil and wasn't afraid to call it evil. He inspired his country to stand and fight against that evil.

Not exactly foreign, but I admire Horatio Nelson, Admiral of the RN, friend of my ancestor, and a person who was killed for te protection of the British monarchy and for the freedom of the kingdom.

Communism on paper could not work. Its like the extreme version of keynsian economics and its not a good idea. It doesnt distribute wealth evenly, it assigns set salaries to set jobs. There are still rich and still poor it just sets a standard salary for both. State mandated salary etc destroys market economics and destroys growth. Which is why ussr was so easily economically drained. The western world was sustainably innovative, while the ussr was only innovative until the money ran out

Capitalism doesn't work so well either; have you read grapes of wrath? It's boring, but it shows the manipulative and unfair power the rich buy for themselves, leaving the poor to struggle and suffer. Since greed is inevitable with every political and economic system, there is no way to define perfection when it comes to that topic.Communism on paper could not work. Someone forgot to mention religion...

Actually, I remembered to exclude religion. It has given the world: crusades, the Spanish inquisition, the dark ages, 9/11, arranged marriages, oppressing women and gays, human sacrifice, witch trials & burnings, rape resulting in marriage (Deuteronomy 22 something, forget the actual quote) suicide bombing, rules for slavery and selling people as property, circumsicion, discrimination against atheists, and child rape by priests.Someone forgot to mention religion...
It can give you comfort and faith in higher power, but don't use it to rule the world. -
Sorry for the Guy Fawkes comment. I don't think I was trying to be rude. I was just trying to point out tgt most Americans have never heard of him unless they saw that movie. But honestly I'm just as bad as those guys. I seriously learned about the plot like two years before the movie. I even took British history and Brit Lit.... Nope. I learned about it from V for Vendetta lol.
-
Well more remembered it I mean. I heard about it here and there when I lived in Stratford. But I pieced it together from the film. Im surprised it's not a more well known historical event! I mean why did I learn about Ben Franklin getting syphilis instead of the gunpowder plot?
