I need a vote here. Ive heard this go two ways and it drives me nuts when my wife says it wrong. So which way is correct:

Its a, all of the sudden is an incomplete sentence with no subject therefore THE is not applicable... Haha seems legit anyways 😝

"All of a sudden" is an idiom. There is no logical or grammatical reason why we say "all of a sudden" rather than "all of the sudden." It's just that, until recently at least, no native speaker of English would say "all of the sudden," just as no native speaker of English would say "She was hit with a car."

I always thought that it was the just because that sounds better. But if people say its A then I guess their more knowledgable then me on this topic.
