So, in about 9 days my family is going to New York City, what fun things are there to do there? And what are some signature foods to try?
-
China Town and The Statue of Liberty..... And empire state and tower memorial if u got tickets
-
Eat the pastrami burger at the famous Rockefeller restaurant !
-
Find a nice "mom and pop" shop. (sandwich place) the commercial ones aren't as good as the ticked away ones.
-
You gotta go to Katz Delicatessen and have the pastrami sandwhich in the L.e.s . You also have to go to Wo Hop in Chinatown Mott St. And since your on Mott walk a 1/2 mile and go to little Italy.. Go to Greenwich Village... Ummm and get a tattoo at Pandemonium Ink ask for Jessica or GiGi and tell er Ace sent you 😝

Time square. Can't go wrong there. Also not sure if your into checking out wall street but it could be interesting. Ive gotten to even go into the Fed reserve bank and see the gold in their vault while they were closing the vault (my close friend works there 😉)
Also central park. Right now there are loads of events going on there.

Ground zero is cool, there is a church across from it that Is now a museum. And there is a great pizza place down the street.
-
You have to head to The Highline, its a railine above the streets. It has been turned into a beautiful park overlooking the hudson river and lower manhattan. It runs up about 20 blocks and they are still adding more. There is a great spot to view more of the famous architecture buildings. That park starts in the meatpacking district. Lots of celebs hang there at night. That area has pretty exquiste restaurants, that isnt expensive. Btw the park closes off at 10pm.
Go up a little from there to 6th ave, is MacDougal St. Very hip area, behind NYU. Theres the comdey spot, usually a couple famous comedians hang there outside at night.
-
Next to that is a place called mamoens that sell great falalel and shawerma sandwiches. That place is the definition of a hole in a wall. Go inside place your order and wait outside. Becareful the hot sauce is pepper sauce which is pretty bad boy.
Down the street from that on your left is a crepe spot that has amazing amazing crepes. A friend told me about a new one they have is nutella with strawberries banana and peanut butter with ice cream on top.
If you go down more and turn left there is a 2 story bar that sell GREAT 15 cent wings on wednesdays or thrusdays? That area has a lot of great shops and stores. Very calm area.

Then head up to what i think you MUST try before leaving new york.
Locals call it platters, chicken and rice or just who they are is The Halal Guys. They have a couple of vendors in their vincinty. The main famous one is on 53rd and 6th. The line could be extra long since its the summer. But it passes, college kids usually start games for fun and you can join in, its a lot of fun. If you dont want to wait that long, they have a hidden one up the street on the corner of broadway. No one is ever there. They have yellow umbrellas. All that it is: chicken or lamb or both on rice with lettuce. Simple. No. The secret is the white sauce that adds the magic to the whole thing. The hot sauce is not as hot as mamoens but that will burn your mouth (add at least like 3-4 drops for a nice kick) and then theres bbq sauce. This place gets imitated a lot because it has been very popular for more than 6 years but theres only one!

Then if you can! Head to astoria, queens. Go down steinway st. allllll the way and make a left on 23rd. underneath the subway bridge is a italian sandwich deli on your left. Sal Kris & Charlie. They have big thick HEROs, the best hot/cold sandwiches i ever had in my life. Dont say you want a turkey sub. In new york its a hero! You tell them you a wholewheat hero with smoked turkey, mayo, letteuce, pickles, onions, american cheese.(at least thats what i get) Oil, vinegar salt pepper oragano usually comes on automatically. You can get it on whatever bread they have in the window, yes they bake there own bread.
That my friend is a REAL sub.On steinway there is about 2 blocks of arab hookah lounges, very fun and nice, some places let you sit outside if you want which you should do.
-
There are 2 more arab sandwich spots. Duzan is one right before astoria blvd. they close around 7, very nice falfel and shawerma sandwiches, they make it big! Another one which closes very late is the sandwich shoppe, same deal as duzan.
On steinway is a wing spot called the wing stop, that have like some many flavors for wings which are out of the world, my fav is lemon pepper. They have AWESOME wings! Must try as well!
New york also has a lot of small frozen yogurt spots scattered all over lower manhattan.
-
Thats about all i know almost, you might gets attitudes here and there but hey its new york! So hope you enjoy. Btw the apple store on 5th has a square in front of it which is a very nice place to relax and sit down, which is next to central park. And beware of the horse shit. Lol
👏🙌im done

Oh! I almost forgot you have to have, Joe's pizza on Carmine St. That's where spiderman worked in the movie, but in all honestly it's the best pizza in NYC, and if you want authentic Italian pizza there is Oliò on Greenwich ave...Ground zero is cool, there is a church across from it that Is now a museum.
