I really wish the history channel would stop showing the shows that use pseudo-science and archeology to draw unproven conclusions about things such as aliens, Mayans, and Nostradamus. These shows really are just scare factor television with a little science added to seem credible. Shows like the universe, the black plague, modern marvels, and even the old 80s and 90s specials they air at 7am are what they need to get back to. As of right now I refuse to tune into the history channels 50/50 mix of fearmongering and reality television.
In my opinion, there will always be people predicting the end of the world based upon religious, scientific, or other dogma. My advice is that there is a more likely chance of you dying of normal causes than an asteroid impact or Supervolcano explosion. However, if you believe the world is going to end, I would be glad to buy your possessions for cheap so you can die with plenty of spending money for booze, drugs, hookers. -

This is stupid. The Mayans used an astronomical calendar. It ends on 12/21 because that is solstice. It has nothing to do with leap year or the roman calendar. The Mayans didn't take into account leap years, so December 21, 2012 actually happened a few years back.

In my perspective. The world will never end. My life is sooooo short compared to the time until the world to goes under.
-
Aw man, a grammatic error.
-
The main reason for the magan calendar to end on 21-12 is bcoz they realised if they wanted to go further, they would have had to add another "wheel or cog" to it, wich the stonecarver at that time declined on a drunk/stoned night.
Also you stating that you know more than i.e. Picasso is a flaw. You dont know how much he, or anyone else for that matter, knows about such topics.
Ps: if you really want to know when the world is going to end, ask the sumerians, in the end they "invented" Written texts (so to speak).End of rant

Bad bean you should watch all the history and discovery channel shows. Those aren't scare tactics they are intended to inform with actual scientists in those specific fields. I agree sometimes it a bit much but shows like ancient aliens promote thought and through thought possibilities are endless. There are soapy theories in existence that are being tested, rejected and/or accepted on a daily basis. I don't believe the world will end in our life time. I believe some bad things will happen but life on earth will survive, it will endure the hardships just as it has for many millions of years. It seems that the sun is the source of all life so until it dies or gets close to death earth is ok

Trust me, read Revaltions. You'd be surprised at how close the things it predicts are happening around us.

Ok everyone it will not end in december. The mayans DID NOT USE LEAP DAY.so if theca lender was right it would've happened years ago.according to the Christian bible no one will know when the world will end.

My problem with these shows is this. They break one of the fundamental rules of scientific inquiry. They go into their "investigations" with an obvious bias to one side. I understand a person can't be truly objective, but their bias is so blatant that they are willing to twist some facts that should debunk their theory into proof. So, with ancient aliens, a picture depicting regular Egyptians building the pyramids is twisted into aliens because their heads are slightly odd. This also happens with the Mayans. Their very broad descriptions of a time period can be proven or disproven easily, but they only show their side.
Yes, they are thought provoking, but they always make obvious reaches to the what if side. My point being that the shows can cause panic among normally rational people due to that persons utter belief in what is on the television, and the show is trying to "prove" the weirdest or scariest thing they can to keep viewers. -

The world's not ending in 12/21. The Mayan calendar uses a bunch of wheels moving at different speeds to tell dates. 12/21 is the day when all of those wheels reach their starting point at the same time. Since the Mayan calendar supposedly starts at the beggining of time, when it reaches that date, it's back to the day of creation, and eventually this story warped into the entire world being wiped out. Total nonsense.

@badbean, I can't put a reply to your post because when I tried to, it said it was past the 1,024 character limit. 1,024 is a very weird number to put a character limit for, but if you ask me, it should be infinite characters. Anyways, they still show 'Modern Marvels' every now and then. But yeah, History Channel needs to stop showing these reality shows and go back to the other stuff.

If this happens does this mean everyone on earth (at that specific time/date) will be grated automatic entry to heaven (would only seem fair) and might be worth hanging about for 🙏It won't, read revelation in the bible, it said heaven and earth will merge and earth will become the new heaven

The world will not end.
Your life may, but not the world.
Life on Earth is worth exactly zero. When all life on Earth is destroyed, nobody will know and nothing will have changed for 100% of the rest of our universe.
Entire worlds full of life are being wiped out as we read this, but it matters exactly zero to you.
Here's a lollipop. Life means nothing more than that.
