Should schools/ the government regulate what people eat due to the obesity issue? Examples.... Lots of schools have changed their lunch menus to include more "healthy" foods and have taken out most vending machines. Now, they are trying to regulate the size of sodas sold in gas stations and other places (big gulp and large sodas.) So, is it the governments place to tell people what and how one should eat?

No.

I think they student should have healthy choices. What's the harm? You aren't forcing the food down your throat lol it's a really good idea to have options instead of typic crap lunch food. Should they tell us how to eat, no. But should they inform us and give us healthy options, why not?
-
I think the national government should stay out of local government issues. The size of the soda won't matter lol people will just refill more :)
-
On one side, do we really need a soda that is two liters in one sitting? Do we buy and consume things that are larger because they are there? Knowing that these things are not good for us, but do you sometimes eat more than you should or drink more than you should just on the basis of its right there in front of you so why not? Years ago McDonald's large order was the size of a small right now.

nothing ta do wit government,
but sounds like they're takin responsibility cause the parents seem ta be lacking any.
looks like our Jamie Oliver's campaign was worth it n rocked the boat
fat bastardsI know, prolly a contradiction of terms there too

To answer your questions yes! I do eat it all because at you point in my life I was poor. I mean syrup sandwiches poor so I hate to waste any food. I feel like maybe next time I won't have enough to eat or something I don't know. If the portions shrunk in size it may help people like myself not eat as much. I also need a little discipline I know, I'm not fat or anything but I could afford to drop 10 pounds :)

Some parents seem to be transferring all responsibility for education, discipline and social skills for their children to the education system. The education system is hamstrung as to what they can do but as long as options are there I think that is a good thing.

In schools yes, for adult private citizens no, just isn't the governments business

I eat anything my momma cooks but now that they got rida da pink milk I don't eat the lunch at school any more
-
No give personal citizens better options and some will make the healthier decision. It has to be done on every scale. Just give us that option don't force us to make any decision lol

I disagree. The size available does has notjing to do with how much one consumes. Regardless it's outside the scope of the constitution for the government to get that far into peoples private livesOn one side, do we really need a soda that is two liters in one sitting? As far as in schools I say the schools should be fully involved. Home lunch inspections the whole deal. But adult citizens have the right to their own choices. If I go into a gas station and I'm super thirsty or barely awake after a long drive why shouldn't I get my large sizes if I feel I need it.

What about their attempt to now raise taxes on soda? On top of getting rid of oversized drinks?Hebrew Hitman wrote:

Home lunch inspection? That would be complete bullshit. The government shouldnt step in. It's the person choice if they want to be fat or not.

School should not have vending machines in school. But we should be able to eat or drink what we want . Out of school. Govt stay out of our life's.
-
I paid 10$ for my Extreme gulp cup, I fill it up for $.99 :)
I'll be dammed if they think they can keep that from me
-
No they shouldn't. But I shouldn't have to pay higher insurance permiums and taxes to subsidize everyone on SSI, disability, or in my insurance plan that is a type 2 diabetic or needs lap band surgery because of obesity. People should take personal responsibility for themselves. Instead they don't want the government telling them what to eat but they sure want them to pay for everything when they are having health issues.
-
👆👆👆this is a great point!
-
Yes, I also think that food stamps shouldn't pay for pop and junk food.
-
Yes. They teach everything else in school. They make them exercise. They make them dress decent and act decent. Why not teach them healthy ways to eat.
People are fucking fat.
And I don't mean, mind chubby cuz you work too hard and are too tired to excersize (?). I don't mean a bit of bear gut.
I don't mean the people who literally can't help it bc of medical shit. (and I don't need to know who you are. YOU know who you are)PEOPLE ARE FUCKING FAT.
And some of you parents are to blame. My friend had a 200 lb 6 year old little brother. And no, he wasn't tall for his age. Dr said, if he keeps eating like this he's going to FUCKING DIE! Everytime I see him his fat fucking face is stuffed with some cheetos or a tweekie or a pepsi.

And for the NOT 200 lb 6 year olds out there, oh well. They teach you everything else in school. You don't have to follow those rules 24/7. And u don't HAVE to eat the food. You can do whatever you want when you get home or grow up. These kids need to know how to eat right. Even the ones that are fit. Some of those kids are only fit bc their kids. Give em 15 years of junk food and bullshit and they won't be able to do a pushup.

But the issue is there are no longer choices, the gov't is getting rid of unhealthy food and replacing it with healthy food, which I think is good, but it eliminates the freedom to choose.I think they student should have healthy choices.
