Yes; schools are paid for by taxes. They are govt funded so I feel they should be govt regulated

At my school theres nothing " healthly " the chicken we eat is brown! Not dark meat but brown.
-
As far as school lunches go, my kids stopped eating at school entirely because the food became bland and tasteless they would eat the fruit but nothing else so i was spending $3.00 a day per kid for an apple and the rest was trashed! Which is healthier them wasting the food and going hungry or eating the so called unhealthy food?

What about their attempt to now raise taxes on soda? On top of getting rid of oversized drinks?Hebrew Hitman wrote:
It's not even the governments job regulate the need for healthier choices. Such a waste of tax dollarsNo give personal citizens better options and some will make the healthier decision. It has to be done on every scale. Just give us that option don't force us to make any decision lol

I think they student should have healthy choices. What's the harm? You aren't forcing the food down your throat lol
But the issue is there are no longer choices, the gov't is getting rid of unhealthy food and replacing it with healthy food, which I think is good, but it eliminates the freedom to choose.I see no evidence of this anywhere! Every school I have ever been to has junk food. Lol most of have junk food. And in fairness do school age kids have the same rights as adults? I think you would agree no. They don't have the right to smoke or vote or leave class without punishment. They don't get to chose what or how they learn, it's government regulated so they have an invested interest in the children already why not be able to feed them the healthy food that the gov wants to? Also most kids get the school lunches free of charge anyways

Yeah but the schools cant be blamed for how the child eats or acts. The parents should take more responsibility for their child rather than blame the schools. If the parents don't want their child to be overweight they should put them in sports. And honestly I'd probably be a bit overweight if I didn't play Lacrosse.Yes. They teach everything else in school. They make them exercise. They make them dress decent and act decent. Why not teach them healthy ways to eat.
People are fucking fat.
And I don't mean, mind chubby cuz you work too hard and are too tired to excersize (?). I don't mean a bit of bear gut.
I don't mean the people who literally can't help it bc of medical shit. (and I don't need to know who you are. YOU know who you are)PEOPLE ARE FUCKING FAT.
And some of you parents are to blame. My friend had a 200 lb 6 year old little brother.

Exactly. You can't make a kid enjoy a sport. However, you can make a kid see the importance of basic excersize and semi healthy eating habits. Just like curfews, dress codes, and academic grades. Gym class? Hello? you have to TEACH it. Doesn't mean they have to follow it when given the oppritunity to execute skills learned from parents and teachers.Zerø wrote:

They feed us shit in high school, taking away the unhealthy food from school does not help because nothing they feed us at school is healthy or good for you except the semi-fresh fruit.

Public Schools yes. Anything else, no.

Everything should be done in moderation but this health diet is too extreme. Don't try and control people's lives for them.

I was only using sports as an example. The point i was trying to make is that parents shouldn't let their kids sit inside play video games and watch tv all day.👿Belial wrote:

If some kid wants to get fat and cut 40 years off his life, that's his problem, not the government's. Some people are just too thick to realize they do stupid stuff and should be a little smarter. I know someone that is so fat she is contained in a wheelchair, but she continues to eat way too much. That's her problem, not the government's.

Schools should make the school lunches as healthy as possible. Put healthier foods in the vending machines. As far as home lunches go, that is the business of the parents. The kids can choose to eat a healthy school lunch, or bring their own food from home. The school's responsibility is to educate. Not dictate how kids live their lives. Kids have to learn how to make their own decisions when it come to how they choose to live their life.

Listen I can't stand lazy fat people as much as the next guy...but this is a place where the government shouldn't intervene. They can run PSAs all they want but not start banning shit like Bloomberg is trying to do!

Let me name a concept. Punitive taxes are wrong. Smoking alcohol and fatty foods should receive no excessive taxing

I don't have kids so I don't really care, but I remember school lunches from when I went to school, I ate them every single day from kindergarten to graduation. From what I recall I wouldn't really call them healthy. Steak-um sandwiches with cheez whiz, with a side of fries? That was the regular meal, not the substitution you could buy extra. Or what about school pizza, I loved it but I wouldn't call it nutritious, they are trying to get deemed a vegetable now because it contains the tomato sauce.
Until they can actually provide a healthy choice, it shouldn't be forced on anyone.

I do not think the sizes of drinks and other items should be changed but I think the prices should. I know if I can get a small drink for $1.39 and a HUGE drink for $1.59 I am going to buy the larger one every time.
