Religion thought earth was the center of the universe an everything revolved around us....science proved otherwise. Science may not know something now......it will in the future.
How many lives do you think that's saved?Religion was against photographs and cameras at one point too.

Currently, we can't do much stem research because religious groups disagree with it as it's "playing god".
By researching stem cells we could grow organs and even limbs to replace damaged ones. It would be a medical break through and change the need for donors.
Too bad religion is against it. -
Great to have a nice religion thread again. We have been deprived of such threads for a while now.
-
I find it funny that this thread was totally hijacked by a religious debate when the OP was only asking what you personally believed in.

I see what you're saying but I disagree. If you mean Catholicism, they are against embryonic stem cell research because it is using embryos. Basically killing babies in order to save others. But if that is allowed where does it end? Like a book I once read called the house of the scorpion. a rich man made clones of himself so he could kill them and use their functioning body parts when his stopped working. It's like harvesting organs from children! It has to end somewhere! Adult stem cell research is great. And also, just because a certain religion is handy it does not mean that research does by continue. Religious institutions do not write the laws.*

They don't write the laws, but greatly influence it.
We need to remember that 52% of Britian is Christian. Piss off the Christians by doing something like stem cell research and you could lose the next election. -
I don't believe in god or Satan or anything on that lost mostly

Hmmm British politics or the lives of helpless babies.... I'm sorry but British politics loses every time. I mean honestly I won't change your opinion on the matter and you won't change. So thank you for the fun debate but maybe we can agree to disagree. They don't write the laws, but greatly influence it.

1) Devastator, it's people like you that make us Christians look pretty darn stupid.
2) The House of the Scorpion is a really good read, I recommend it to everyone.
3) Like Nicky said, most of what you guys are saying religion was against wasn't religion, but rather power-hungry, selfish leaders of the Church. Religion doesn't teach things like that, man does. -

True!Thing ppl don't understand about me is im not religious nor believe in a god or the devil. I do believe in angels and demons but because I've seen them. I do believe there once was a man named Jesus Christ but probably wasn't as much of a miracle worker as they say. During many documentaries it's been said Jesus was also an alien and aliens have to do with many of the past great mysteries. I also believe that as well considering it's believable. Hundreds of thousands of planets and you believe we're alone? What makes the earth so special? Just cuz some planets aren't able to sustain life doesn't mean all aren't.

2). I'll check it out.
3). That's what religion is, power hungry people controlling and manipulating society for their own selfish greed. That's what it was designed for, that's what it's done for the past 5000years+. It's a new era, that of logic and reason and there is no room for supersticious bs. Society has changed so much in the last 100 years and were going to let 1000 year old scripture dictate our morals and values? THATS WHATS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET! -
Hey where's that troll who thought michael Jackson was still alive? He'd be perfect for this thread.

I didn't mean to make such a big debate , but at least you "get to know your neighborhood mobsters". I am a Christian , however I'm no Bible pusher. If you have your religion , so be it . Same goes for if you're not religious . But , I wouldn't shy away from answering questions if people asked me in person .

I think that may have been my fault, I apologise.

My belief is in chance, what are the odds on this planet existing. No matter how infinitesimal these odds, against the infinity of the universe they must succeed. Everything must exist in some form nothing is impossible, even the laws of physics are applicable to this world as tested. No one knows what else is out there and what is possible. We may well find dinosaurs, silicon based life even planets with unicorns.
Oh and does life have meaning, look at your children. Mine are the meaning of my life, to protect, educate and bring them up as bright educated and well rounded people.

I believe in the first 4 (ghost the forth? Or was it 5th?) I haven't read much of this post as even the sight of a prayer fills me with rage and makes me want to hurt someone these days. I bow my hat to the true followers of Christ who live without shelter or even shoes, I pity the ones in the bmws and nice homes; it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of god, and while there are people with less belongings than yourself, then u are considered a rich man.

I'll never understand how someone who claims they don't believe in God will spend so much time and energy to prove they are right and that those of us who do believe are wrong. I'd rather spend my life as a believer and be wrong than spend it as an unbeliever and be wrong.

Doubt it. In my 47 years I've come to the conclusion that those who try so hard to convince me I'm wrong are in fact just trying to convince themselves they are right. But that's why this is such a great country, we can all have our own opinions and beliefs without worry of persecution.( did I spell that right?)R|CCO wrote:
