Made disconcerting and terrible, the menu and “black men” led to the belief that Polybius was a U.S. government project, a perverse experiment with ways to build mechanisms which numb the consciences of the masses or induce social unrest through apathy, depression and madness.
Fortunately for most, the Polybius machines were withdrawn by the “men in black” after the media scandal that started the local Portland Press after the gruesome death of a young man who died from the contortions of an epileptic seizure after playing long Polybius in an arcade.
After the death of the young man was not a single machine Polybius, though, if there is unquestionable, that is the existence in some game rooms, records that mention Polybius machines in 1981. Moreover, many of those who administered these halls have told video game publications, in effect, the mysterious “men in black” were always going to inspect the status of machines and users before the closed rooms. -

Some of those who played Polybius said that the game had to go through mazes puzzle types while others said that what he had was a ship that fought in the space. However it is known that Polybius had mechanisms that produce amnesia and because of that any gamer can remember well how was the game because, in other words, if the game was a secret government project then may have been designed not to be remembered uniformly and thus be relegated as a mere myth in the public imagination …
-
But the legend does not end there. In 2006 Steven Roach said in various web forums that he had been part of the development team of Polybius, that there was no secret government project and simply wanted to experience in the field of vector graphics unfortunately getting results as epilepsy or hallucinations in users. Finally, Steven Roach gave an interview to Bit Parade in which, among other things, said the game had been rediscovered by hackers as Cyberyogi.
Many believe that the legend has been debunked but: what if the government paid to Steven Roach to lie?, What if many of the alleged denials are simply a reflection of how you have fallen into the trap of the U.S. government? As in Roswell, the U.S. government here has certainly moved things to make us think that everything is a myth, but, like few others, Polybius legend should be kept behind a shameful and twisted truth.

When the old detective played the game...
That part gave me goose bumps and couldn't stop shivering.
Very good story! -
Wait, good story but how do we know what exactly happened to the detective

Sinneslöschen actually means “Sense-deleting”
Sinn = Sense.
the -es is just an addition to make sense in additionwords.
löschen means to delete.
Sensedeleting. -

I just read a bunch of stuff on the Lavender Town Syndrome, and it's all creepy and messed up. Here's a link to the site I was using: http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/The_Noble_Purple_Town

Alright, found some Polybius info- so apparently there aren't any REAL roms on the general internet. However, my search will not stop at that. I'm going to scour the deepnet soon. I've already went through a few sites i've been a bit freaked out by, and quite a few illegal DLS's, but nothing like Polybius. See, the problem is that there isn't many people that are willing to look through deepnet, for numerous reasons. Well, i'n going to start. I need to fix my setup, but .onion will soon be able to be reached with my current computer, and i will search for it. For the time being the closest i can find is a modified Tempest rom, but that's not even close to the rumored Polybius.

If anyone wants to join me in the search then download Firefox and then the addon (i'll get specific names soon) for it that enables the viewing of .onion links.

Someone once summed up the dark and deep web to me, when I first started lurking, as...
"a cache of amazing information that happens to be floating on an ocean of piss. If you don't mind swimming long enough in it you'll get used to the smell and find the caches."

WOW.
Interesting.
Greenman, do you know of PGR107? Because apparently there's someone affiliated with Polybius's production that goes by that screen name. A website i found states that "PGR107 has the most believable story of Polybius and it's purpose. Whether it's true or not it's definitely worth a read." But when you try to find any articles, search anywhere for anything correlating to it all that comes up is different commands. Maybe that's completely faked, and i'm chasing a road to nowhere, but i figured it'd be worth asking you. -

Yeah I saw that branch I believe. Everything I've been lead to believe regarding Polybius, is that there is at least a bit of truth behind it. One of the reasons I'm most convinced is just based on the timeline the creepypasta presents, and the fact that it claimed the CIA was involved. If you know your psychological human tests history the dates just so happen to line up with the MKULTRA experiments, Air America flight logs to Portland at the time, and the Project Pegasus Army and CIA remote viewing trials. The same trials portrayed in the movie "The Men Who Stare at Goats". Swann even mentions Portland a number of times in a book regarding it that I am looking at.
