Electric cigarette

My girl is trying to convince me to quit smoking. I get a "surprise" if I'm successful. Any pointers? Anyone know if electric cigarettes help? Tbh I am not sure if I want to quit.

Similar boat here. I'm tempted to go down the Ecig route. Can't hurt.
I've heard good things about them. 👍

Electric cigarettes still have all the same chemicals as a normal cigarette. Try nicorette gum it helps. Also you'll save a lot of money over the course of your life if you quit :D. After my mom quit smoking, she started walking everyday and she says that helps take her mind off it.

I just stopped smoking. Decided one day to quit, finished the pack, and never touched another cig. But I don't have an addictive personality. Did the same with alcohol, though I still drink occasionally. I just don't get drunk anymore.

Ecigs are the way to go
They just put nicotine in your system that's about it -

I've tried gum...its useless. Only use I've ever found for it is when moving ordnance in the military and not being able to smoke during that, it gets you by temporarily. Of course the I realized chew worked even better during those times. I really don't care if ecigs are "bad for me" if it's the lesser of the two evils and works I will try it. Couldn't be worse than me smoking menthol 100's at a pack and a half a day at timesElectric cigarettes still have all the same chemicals as a normal cigarette. Try nicorette gum it helps. I also workout regularly. Inactivity isn't the problem. Ive had 2 doctors to tell me to continue smoking before. Lol. Seriously. Sidenote during Physical readiness test while in the military I would smoke before and after and still get a high score. Ecigs work differently for everyone. My boyfriend says they work for him but they do nothing for me. In the end neither of us quit.

I am between trying the patch, buying the ecigs or just continuing to smoke. To be honest, more toward the latter option. I do enjoy smoking. Its mainly for my girl and my kids that makes me want to quit.
-
No harm in trying the Ecig. Just do your research on manufactures etc.

They do work wonders for long time smokers. Helped my dad quit for a year and a half till he started again due to divorce. Now we just found out today he has stage 4 lung cancer. I say try and quit in anyway you can because you never know when tradgety will hit. I smoke myself, but now every cig I have makes me want to puke.Amish Hitman wrote:

Check out this site. Best place to learn about e-cigs. I've been using one exclusively for a year after 35 years of smoking.

I smoke anywhere from 10-15 cigs a day. Long days I'll smoke a pack. I've been smoking for 7 years. My boyfriend smokes about the same as me and he has smoked for roughly the same amount. I don't know why but after I smoke the ecig I need a regular cig like its not enough. I think the ecig works for him because he is a submariner and can no longer smoke on a submarine.Lady Skillz wrote:

If you do use e-cigs to help quit, you should not use them purely as a permanent replacement. Nicotine itself is not a physiologically safe substance to abuse either.

Wiki transtheoretical model of behavior change. Read the whole article. It is one of the legitimate models used by healthcare professionals when assessing/work on changing healthcomes on a population health level. The concepts also apply directly to helping to guide quitting. Especially helpful if you are good at being honest and objective with yourself

I say no matter by which way you choose to try to quit I say good luck and wish you the best. Surprising I come from a family of smokers. Both parents, both sets of grand parents. My sister all smoke. I myself never picked up the habit.

I quit a few years ago. Best decision I ever made. You can do it Sammy. Give it a try man you'll realize down the road what a tremendous difference it makes in every day life.

First cigarette I had, it was my 13th b-day party. My friend at that time gave me some Winston's for my b-day. Then in high school Marlboro red, then switched to camels shortly thereafter. Then when I went into military back to Marlboro reds sometimes lights (they didn't have much to choose from on deployments) then to Newport, now Marlboro smooth 100 probably a couple others in there I missed. I'm not a loyal smoker to a brand for awhile I get bored with the taste. I have quit for 5 months one time, but then started going through divorce and started right back up.

Now I'm 27.

Looks like I have a lot more reading to do
