College?

Just wondering who here went to college or is planning on going to college. Where you went and how you feel about the whole experience.
I went to California Institute of the Arts and got my BFA in music performance.....
The college experience was great and surreal because my school was a private art school about the size of a publi highschool. its a pretty useless degree haha. Still paying off loans but i am getting a lot of paid work as a musician.

I went to Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. I have an Associates in Recording Arts, which is basically audio engineering.
I had a blast there. I learned do much, and got to meet and work with some pretty famous people. I wouldn't trade that experience for the world.
Sadly, I am not using that degree. I haven't been able to get an internship, job, nothing. I graduated in 09 😒
You don't even want to know how much I paid to go there lol

My college years were the best of my life. I had a fantastic time

100k for 4 years? Calarts was 200k for four years. As i stated before tho, i got a lot of scholarships/aid haha. I would NEVER pay over 50k for a fine arts degree, no matter how awesome te school was
Little known fact: tim burton went to calarts

I went to college now I have a student loan payment that's over half my salary. It sucks.

I don't think I have a choice. My dad says I gotta go. He went and says its an experience that shouldn't be missed.

You have your whole life to pay off your student loans. You don't have you whole life to find the job you will be happy with for 40 years, and to grow within that company.✯ཥ༑ངਸཧཧབ✯ wrote:

I may not be using my degree now, but at least I have the knowledge necessary to do what I want to do with my life. And when the time comes, I'll be able to use that knowledge. You never know when you opportunity will come. And when it does, you want to be prepared

People would be much better to go get a job that doesn't require college and save their money. Then create a business and expand. -
Planning on going to college for some sort of engineering, possibly nuclear or mechanical, for at least four years. Want it to be a prominent school, and I want my career to be something involving renewable/green energy.
-
College is important only if you know what you want to be and that career requires a degree. Do NOT waste your time and money and then leave with some degree that you don't use just because some people say "it's important." thats bull💩. Spend some time in the military, grow a little, see the world, or pick up a trade that can be applied now. You have YEARS to go to college if and when you decide you want a career requiring it.
-
You may be like me and realize that "more money" just isn't as important as being happy and enjoying life. But if money is your God, then by all means go to college.

Best 7 years of my life
-
Each their own, I never went. Changed jobs and careers 5/6 times in the 1st 10 years after High School. Found the career I wanted and studied by correspondence picking up a Diploma in Insurance. Work paid for it so no student debt and on a good salary...
-
I'm planning on going to purdue to study chemical engineering. Instate tuition isn't too much and I should get some scholarships along the way to help. Hopefully won't have to take out any student loans
-
didnt even graduate high school. got my GED in texas prision. i now make 84k a year salary. college isnt for everybody. it wasnt for me. im a crane mechanic now making great money, but there were times when i was making 400 a week with 150 a week in tool payments. just saying u dont have to go to college to be successful.

How do you like nuclear engineering?Everyone should go to college. In most cases, a bachelor's degree increases your lifetime pay by over 1 million dollars over a high school diploma. It is much more necessary now than ever before, because of the scarcity of jobs. Companies are only hiring the best qualified workers now. Many professions require either several years experience or a degree to get an entry level job. On that note...
Nuclear Engineering, BS + 6 years experience (free on scholarship)
Economics, BBA + 3 years experience (free on scholarship + grants)
Back in school for the 3rd time for a JD. (this time I have to pay for it)
