You know what I find really interesting?
The early, first century Christians were embroiled in a serious debate as to whether or not they were still Jewish.
If you think about how confused they were within the very same lifetime of their God incarnate, what on Earth would make you think the story is somehow more clear 1900 years later, with the complete absence of any further guidance from above?
The clarity you perceive comes from the mind of man, and arguments won and lost since.
The very books of the Christian faith were written after the fact, once they had answered for themselves whether they were Jews or not, and decided whether Jesus was born of God, or baptized as God's son. They decided for THEMSELVES what would and would not be written in the Gosphel, (which was to be revised yet again at the council of Nicea), when they themselves couldn't agree on the truth.

If you were a complete pacifist lets see how long your beliefs last. Seriously. If this country was founded on pacifism and not on the blood sweat and tears you wouldn't have the freedom to believe. Or you could as in the past be overtaken by those that "spread their religion with the sword." see how not killing works out for history.
