So there's alot of drama popping up about the goverments plans to monitor us, emails, websites, calls and texts, although they swear they won't read the contents (they also swore not to raise tuition fees too!) what is your take on the situation? I have nothing to hide, and anything i do want to hide, well even the goverment cannot see them, but is this just a step into the movie v for vendetta? What next? Will we be looking into the eyes of a curfew next? Opinions

They obviously will read the contents otherwise there is no point in monitoring it and I think this is a terrible idea it is a privacy invasion if it happens I could get past some of it using foreign proxy servers.

Exactly, ofcourse they will read otherwise it's pointless, they try to act like we are all stupid. I use proxy servers and you can get anonymous email service sites, so there's way around it, hell I might even do it just out of protest. They obviously will read the contents otherwise there is no point in monitoring it and I think this is a terrible idea it is a privacy invasion if it happens I could get past some of it using foreign proxy servers.

Well they had the eschalon system for years. This is just a tech upgrade for the same idea.
If they bring it in (and they will) I might re start sending emails containing DES encrypted files. Just to piss them off lol -
Lol! I'll just send pictures and hide the messages within the pictures code 👿 mwhaha

Bloody governments. Bloody threads. Bloody people. I think I'll go crash my car again. Again.

I wish I had a politician in my car with me today. He might have been able to convince the guardrail not to hit my car. 😁

It's a gross abuse of power. Government works for the people. NOT the other way around. This isn't some extremist Muslim state this is supposed to be a free western power. It's fucking gross.
And if you think you have nothing to hide so let them you are both an idiot and part of the problem -

I should be getting a new lappy in a couple of months. Think I'm gonna go onion with it.
I'll enlist a uber tech nerd I know to set me up as invisible/defended as it gets.
Not because I have anything to hide, but because if they want to invade my privacy, I'm
Going to make them work for it. -

This is all just smoke, like the fuel shortage they use this news to hide more embarrassing issues, where has the debate gone about the cash for acces to PM gone? That's the real issue, £250,000 to have acces to PM and influence policy is disgrceful and forgotten about.
-
It is smoke, but whether it's covering up something or not if this passes, well the fact of the matter is this: if this passes and happens then who's to say a curfew is not next, or a dress standard, our goverments like to give us the illusion of freedom, but no one is free, we are all one law away from being nothing but a pawn in some kind of power game. Something needs to happen to give the people the power again. (again is a word I use lightly, as I'm not sure we ever really had it to begin with)
-
No I agree, this is an important issue but we are being sold down the river by our politicians on every issue, corporations influence goverment not people. Untill we have some sort of revolution I can't see us ever being able to win.
-
Hopefully a revolution comes soon, anonymous seem to be the only ones trying, if this passes I'm gonna start preaching to Americans to use ip covering software to show them as in the uk, and uk people to cover there's to show there in the US, imagine if everyone done that lol

Ahh see some of us have girlfriends who like to send pictures...How many millions of text messages get sent daily?
I'm not fussed if someone is reading a text I've sent. It's not as though I'm a global arms dealer or setting up meetings with extremist groups.
If MI5 really want to know that my mother wants me to pick up a bottle of red for dinner then sobeit!

I read an autobiography, can't remember who she was but she was a holocaust survivor, i think, she said the fascism diddnt just start up one day full speed, the civil libities of the people were taken away piece by piece, over a lenth of time, useing small changes to laws under the guise of protecting the people from outside threats.
The people accepted this willingly and with out contest, (believing there goverment had there best intrest at heart) untill one day there rights had gone, there was nothing protecting them from the system which had turned on them, they were isolated from eachother, afraid to talk openly, those that did were demonised and killed.
We're slipping into it without realising. -

It's not about what we send and whether we are comfortable or not, it's what comes next! This law is a gateway law, once this passes then they can pass many other things using the same thing, they can then say that determined from what they have learnt from our Internet usage that for our own safety there will be a 9pm curfew, or that this particular tv channel causes far too much opinion and will be taken of air, or that people are just too keen on speaking up that maybe we should start shutting them up, it opens the door to too many other scenarios. If you have any sense of pride you will stand uP and speak up.How many millions of text messages get sent daily?
