My step daughter was just diagnosed with it.
She came in here for a relatively minor surgery to repair a valve in a kidney, supposed to be a max 2 day recovery...she started getting complications , infection, low white blood cell count.
Today after 9 days here in the hospital we just got told she has leukemia ... I am shocked , stunned and numb and hope I can be as strong as my wife needs me to be for her -
My prayers are with your family
-
hope shes ok but whats leukemia

My friend's daughter went to get a vision exam two years ago and the doctor found a little dark spot on her eyeball. She was referred to another doctor for a full check up and later diagnosed with leukemia at age 6.
After various treatments, she is now a happy, healthy, gifted 8-year old and cancer free. If you need a second opinion, I can ask my friend and get the doctor's number for you. She lives in San Francisco, but judging from the end result, the doctor she had certainly earned the reputation. -

I'm trying to not think of the odds, even though they are very good on favor of beating this.. I'm trying to focus on 100% chance of 100% beating this.
I asked if catching it early was a good thing.. The doctors said that "catching it early" doesn't really apply to leukemia... You either have it or you don't... The fact that we got it diagnosed before she is really ill has got to be a plus though , I would think.
I'm doing ok... The girl is good today.. Feels good, playing around... My wife is a wreck .
I have to leave her for 3 days cause I will have my 4 year old daughter, and we don't want to bring her around my step daughter since my stepdaughters immune system is compromised by the low White blood count...my wife needs all the positive energy she can get... I don't believe in God, but she does, and prayer is always welcome.
I appreciate the out pouring of concern from my online "family" here -
So sorry to hear this Wisdom, buddy. My prayers are with the family.

Wisdom, as a cancer survivor I have two words for you: have hope. Hope will keep you focused. Hope will help you remain strong. Hope compliments love. Hope will foster a positive mindset, something I believe is an essential element to success in this path you now must travel.
Today is difficult, but it will get better. Medical science offers remedies as never before. Hope will see you through.👍

This is horrible...
Wishing you and your family all the strength of the world.
Please try everything you can to keep her positive. -

I'm am very sorry to hear this. It will all be ok though.
She will come through this.
You are in terrible shock right now. Just try to focus on your daughter and SO. Let it settle it.
You will have oncologists to guide you through these early stages while it's all a bit confusing. Trust in them.
Just stay positive and be kind to yourself with good food and good rest for all of you while the news sinks in.
I'm so very sorry but it will all turn out ok. All my love coming to the three of you. This community is here to support you.

When my father was diagnosed with multiple myeloma which is a cousin to leukemia, I found the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to be extremely helpful.
When you have a few minutes in the next week, just go there and they have a really helpful step by step guide to help you through this process.
A diagnosis like this can seem overwhelming at first, but I found their guide very helpful in keeping me focused and positive. Was a godsend for me.
Hugs, love and positive thoughts coming your way.

I'll look into that society .. Thanks again to all for the support .. My wife us snuggling the girl right now... They are taking a nap.. In in the recliner trying to figure out what I can do.. So far all I can think of is just being here... There is another marrow draw tomorrow morning.. This will help us figure out what leukemia she has... There are 2 different kinds I guess -
You sound good maybe a little tired. Maybe get something to eat? I'm glad they are having a little nap. They probably really need it! Totally exhausting day for everyone.🌻🌻🌻🌻
