You just answered the question. Simple business - supply and demand. If you have a premium product you demand a premium price. If you have a niche product you demand a premium price. Why doesn't make sense? That's what business is. And as troggy said, your estimates on developerment is very far-fetched, it takes a team months of R&D to produce a final product at the level of technical ability Adobe offers.Photoshop is expensive because it's the only software...

I don't see a problem with someone pirating software so they can make money then later using that money to actually buy the software. If they couldn't afford it in the first place.

Belial that's a pathetic attempt at trying to have a dig. What's happened to me in TW has no relevance to Adobe creating a product and making profit! You are unbelievably ignorant in your perception of business and the real world!

Never said I needed it for pixel editing. Just basic processing and to make sure my colors don't get clipped

Maybe that's the problem. The features of Photoshop are not required for good photography, and are also available in numerous other more affordable products.
You are turning every argument you are making to rediculous extremes.
Step back. Try a Zen-like approach. Minimize the cruft. Find your inner photographer.
Guess what? I don't need Photoshop. I bought it, but I don't need it. Most of what I need is in Aperture (or in your case, Lightroom).
Why exactly do you NEED Photoshop?

Raw files aren't even readable or printable until they're processed. It takes photoshop to do that -
I can't use dpp because I don't have a disc drive. I need photoshop for the reason we talks about bn. Lightroom snips colors and the only workaround is to export to photoshop

Here's a good solution. If you are unwilling to spare the expense to use the products you deem necessary to be a photographer, do something else. All you're doing is coming up with excuses, try solutions instead. I gave you a perfect solution, you are just unwilling to consider it. Photoshop 5.0 does everything, and it's free. Or get a disc drive. Those are practically free. We're talking a fast food meal for two for a portable usb dvd-rom drive now. Or, get this, quit spending all your time on here and pick up a part time job to save up for the magical photoshop.I can't use dpp because I don't have a disc drive. 1. Anonymous members on 4chan are nearly all dissolved, at least originals. They were amazing people, visionaries of the modern world. The new 4chan generation is (For the most part, that is to say some originals remain) horrible "wannabes".I am not a hacker. I do agree highly with many of their views and follow their twitter posts daily. All that said, i am anoymous because i choose to stand up for freedom of speech, government transparency, and many other social topics many of you will only care about when they are gone. I will proudly wear my fawkes mask to protest what i feel is right. Read up on the recent NDAA signed by Obama. You, yes you and anyone else who can read this, can be legally detained for life without trial! Chicken has clarified a lot here.

I could use it for dust delete data if nothing else. There's a lot of software they had that would benefit me and I can't find where to get the full versions. Just updates

Agreed with the person who commented on the PSN being down as terrorism... "Waaah I was my PSN!" how about instead you get pissed at Sony for allowing it to happen. They sit in huge buildings with huge incomes... Why weren't they more secure? Why did it take so long to get back up? Maybe because the people you pay when you buy a game dont give a hoot since they can just blame it on someone else.
