Death Penalty, Yes or No?
Forums › General Discussion › Death Penalty, Yes or No?-
What do you guys think? I think it should be used for those that just can't be rehabilitated. There are just some monsters that we can't control or fix. What's the point of keeping someone that can't and won't stop killing? Nothing. Now, this should only be the final choice.
(I won't go into the topic of how flawed our jails are and how most don't encourage rehabilitation).
-
The death penalty (IMO) is totally necessary, like you said,"People just can't stop killing, and won't stop." Although, I think the death penalty should be used only if the offender is a rapist or murderer.

Yes
-
Having been surrounded by some of these psychopaths, yes. I wouldn't want friends and family near a person who got out of jail who was a serial killer.
-
And if executed person is later found to have been innocent? What then? I'm a bit of a fence sitter on this.
-
YES!
-
No it against there right to life but some it makes me want to but it's against my beliefs
-
I say no

It's already happened I believe. I'm sure I read somewhere that people had been tried by a jury of their peers, found guilty then executed and then exonerated by D.N.A testing. Don't ask me where I read it though because I haven't got a clue hahaAdd: OLSEN wrote:

Oh, I'm a big fat yes for death penalty.
I'd even volunteer for the job. Just to show that I'm not an armchair thinker without the balls to end a murderers life. -
Life in prison is a life long torment for the offender. Also much cheaper than a a decade or more of appeals and if a mistake of an innocent is jailed, at least it can be overturned. Granted there are some who. IMO, deserve it. It's jus that The drawn out appeals process is very painful for the victims families, so life in prison is, IMO, the better course of action.

Prison is horrible compared to death
-
I'm with Olsen: one innocent put to death is one too many and it HAS already happened.
That innocent could be you, your brother, mother, friend etc.
There are too many incompetent lawyers and lopsided juries.
I'm addition: any modern state that can kill it's own citizens sets a barbarbaric precedent.
We the innocent, as arbiters of justice should lead by a higher principle than those who would commit heinous crimes.
Yes- there are some sick people, but we shouldn't act like them either.

I think if anyone kills, they sould die, no prison

We also have to take into fact that it takes about $50,000 to incarcerate an inmate... That's our tax dollars at work. I don't want to spend MY money to house someone that committed a crime in the very country I protect.
-
I say if theres strong evidence and the person has like a 40 year+ sentence, just 💉 them. Cheap on money and it prevents a jail break.

Appeals for lifers are no less costly. And knowing that the scumbags are getting three squares a day and cable tv on the taxpayers dime is frustrating. I agree that it is difficult when you imagine the idea of somebody wrongly accused being exonerated after their sentence was carried out. And it's true that it has happened - new evidence found, DNA tested after new tech has been introduced, etc. The bottom line is, the death penalty we currently have is hardly a deterrent, and even life in prison is not enough punishment for some offenders who simply cannot be rehabilitated. I say, in clear cases with proper evidence and an abundance of facts, kill them. And do it quickly, with a limit on appeals. Society has to have proper punishment to deter the worst offenders..... Also much cheaper than a a decade or more of appeals ... so life in prison is, IMO, the better course of action.

Killing isn't wrong because the victim is innocent, killing is wrong because it's killing. Killing the killer is still wrong.

Though I do agree there should be a severe punishment to murderers, etc. My dad's a cop👮🚓 and he works with these scumbags everyday, trust me, he has heard some....pretty sick, wrong, purely evil stories from these guys.
Ex. A guy was telling him a story about how he brutally hacked a woman apart with a meat cleaver, then proceeded to dump her into a dumpster.
So, actually ya, I kind agree with you if the circumstances are right.😔💉💀 -

Didn't Oklahoma pass a law a few years back allowing for the Death Penalty for child molesters?
-
Yes and all death pently sentences should get bumped to top priority for their appeals. None of this crap where they wait for years on death row

Also 3 strike felons should just be commuted to death.

And before anyone starts making comments, I was a corrections officer for 2 years. I would have gladly gutted some of those fucks like a fish.
