Hmm, Anon's targeting of the SOPA and PIPA bills were both complete successes, we'd have quite a lot less internet rights at the moment if someone didn't try to stop it. We've had many successes. So it isn't hopeless.

Proud to say i wasn't part of the Visa hacking, i do disagree with what they did. I also disagree with megaupload, i'm glad it was shut down. Some of us do have morals you know.

The facts are anon actively promotes libertarian principles without limiting its membership or confining itself to unified principles like past organizations. It's a completely new form of political existance and not restricted by the social norm or set parameters of it's predecessors, yes people are scared, no its not out to get you, it exists and always will in one form or another.

Ha I'm just sick of all the bitching lately. Seriously people. If you don't like stuff instead of sitting there protesting or hiding behind computer screens, go to college. Get a job in the system to that helps rather than just whining. Become a politician or a part of the government and actually be the change you want to see. I mean it must be rough!! We are all on here with our iPhones and computers watching flat screen t.vs.. Damn you America!!

I'm sure it seems harmless to you, but you start denying the bottom line of a creditor and who do they recoup their losses from? ✋me...I'm a customer. If someone has to spend extra man hours working a hard down for a gov't website who pays for that? ✋me...I pay taxes.
I do not thank you very much for that or for reaching into my pocket to do it. Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

Don't you see though, even if the sites are put back, it causes long term damage.
It's considered that, but it's really not. That's why we do this, because it's something that we can do that gets peoples attention that we need. And if you take a look at every website we've DDoS'ed, they're all fine. How many millions of dollars/pounds do you suppose are put into countering these things? Tax money which can hardly be spared. Regardless of how good intentioned these things may be, it's the very people you claim to look out for who will take the hit.
Look at the Visa and MasterCard attacks for example. Retailers were affected and lost sales globally. Therefore the card companies lost revenue. Who foots the bill for these 'peaceful' protests? Yup, again it comes down to the consumer, the people, the majority. May only be in the minor amounts to such corporations but as a society we can I'll afford extra expense.

You don't get to talk about free speech when you rob others of theirs.
The concept is wrong, it's not harmless, and anyone that participates should pay the legal consequences of playing pirate terrorist. There are people and equipment invested in operating these company's Internet presence, and it costs money to combat this idiotic destruction.
There is work to be done, but
if you can't work within the system, it just means you aren't that bright. -

Real life protests have come and gone long before the advent of the Internet. And guess what, they have changed the world in biblical terms of magnitude. For human rights, the things that matter. The attainment of a better society, to become a better human being.Without us "silly little kiddies" nobody would care. Hate to break it to you but we get the media's attention that feeds the RL protests. It's something that's a circle of sorts, like on the 16th when we protest at all sony buildings: They wouldn't have any attention if it weren't for the people that hacked sony in the first place.
Gaining attention to protest Sonys buildings drives those who know little or nothing to meet up and tag along for the ride. Attention whores.
A Sony protest could have been achieved without having to hack it. As you know the Internet is a powerful medium for communication. By simply informing people would gain you more respectful attention.

And this perspective that without anon nobody would care is, frankly, quite narrow. Anons aren't terrorists. Terrorists actually strike fear in people and do things that affect the world. Anons are a zit on the ass of the Internet.
