Back in India they believe that you shouldn't urinate under a tree at night because wondering spirits can possess you.

If you've ever suddenly woken up and felt a presence near you swear as bad as you can.
- my dad actually told me this, he used to have weird, unexplainable experiences like this when he was younger.

Here in America we beleive it's bad luck to screw numerous amounts of hookers without proper protection. It's just a myth tho.

I think the idea is, it's locations like this where lost spirits linger, by urinating you enrage them. Obviously it depends on the location itself, but it's generally implied when your on the road and you stop off in a secluded area, which there's a lot of in India. Some very creepy looking places.Darth Vadan™ wrote:

Bad luck for walking under a ladder..
If a town didn't have a tree, they used the top rung.. Walking neath a ladder, leaning against a building is said to lead to random acts of violent/uncharicteristic of the person being possed -

In India pregnant women are not prohibited to go out alone after 7pm.
We have certain times of the day that are auspicious and inauspicious, unless it's a marked day or time on our calendar, most days after 7pm after considered inauspicious, pregnant women are not allowed because it's said they are more prone to being possessed, the child being possessed or even murdered by a spirit.

Marriage ceremonies are started only within a certain time frame. The day/month/year and time window are worked out by priests.
Generally speaking, most Indian weddings will be started between 1-2.30pm as this is always an auspicious time.
If the ceremony is nt started within the time the wedding will not take place on that day.

If a dairy product in the fridge such as milk, yogurt or cheese suddenly goes off over night there has been a spirit near by. It's not blindly believed its a bad spirit but most people lead to that assumption.

My friend from mauritius had a crazy story quite like the swearing thing, and a stranger who asked you for a smoke on your way home, if u answered yes he would take you as a host and if i answered no he would kill you... My friend didnt know this, and answered yes and ended up very sick... His father asked him had anything strange happened or did he meet anyone strange so he recalled the man and the cigarette... His mother brought him to a witch doctor who said he must go back to the tree at the same time, alone and ask for his cigarette back from the shadow man, and that all would be okay... He was also told to drink a mix of red wine and something else. He went back asked for his cigarette. The man gave it back turned without sayibg a word and walked away. There are many sightings of shadows at the trees in india and muslim cultures... This one was genuine and my friend was welling up slightly recalling it. Glad to say he's fine now 😋

Randomly sneezing repeatedly indicates something bad may happen. It's like an omen.
-
Another reason I'm glad I don't smoke.

Full moon day is highly auspicious, the day is called "poonam". No moon day is the opposite.
-
I'm always randomly sneezing 5-6 times 😳🔫

Yup border we have similar. Certain things you shouldn't say to a complete stranger if they stop you or ask a question. For example, you should never say "see you". It's a term that we all use at some point generally speaking to anyone, but if you say it to a stranger and it happens to be a bad spirit you're inviting them in. So it's encouraged you part saying a Gods name.
It's actually 1 of the few things I do. If I'm leaving the house I always say goodbye using a Gods name.

During a house warming ceremony milk is heated to a point where it overflows to the east.
East is considered good. Many things are done to the east because it's where the sun rises.
Very similar to Chinese Feng Shui. We call it "Vaastu".

When someone gives you the eye or evil eye, wear a red strung or bracelet type around the wrist.
On new years eve put money in your shoe and don't take it out til after midnite for a rich year,... Something like that. -
First person you see outside your home on newyears day after you wake up is how your year will be. That's how it was explained to me.
-
In Japan they say if you sneeze then someone's talking about you.
My superstition is that things have to start with four to be good. It's always worked for me

1 sneeze someone this thinkin of you.
Bite your tongue someone is swearing at you.
Twitching eye is a bad omen, like the sneezing several times.
Numerological superstitions are common across all cultures. Like the number 7 is lucky and 13 is bad.
13 has actually been co-incidentally lucky for me in many situations.
There's also colour based superstitions.
Shouldn't wear black to the temple or a religious ceremony.
Wear black to a funeral. That's pretty common.

You're supposed to lift your feet when driving over railroad tracks.
I knew someone that insisted on touching to roof of her car everytime she saw a car with only one working headlight; said it warded off bad luck.
You're not supposed to make "round trips" in elevators. Up or down, but not both without getting out.
Never heard elevator 1 either.

Supposedly the elevator one means you can't make up your mind & you will wander in life.
Never understood the roof one either. She called one light cars "perdiddles". Wtf?

Does anyone know anything about a street light going off when you pass by it? Thought I heard something about that...
