that's what I do.I won't disrespect anyone around me if there's a big group prayer going on.I just bow my head, look at the ground, &wait patiently. I won't get in arguments over it. To each their own. My mom was raised Catholic & my dad wasn't. I wasn't really raised with strong religious values. In high school, I gave it a shot because Im pretty open-minded & I thought itd be a shame if I was missing out on what some people consider an incredible thing & the most important part of their lives.Anyway,I never had that "feeling" or "connection",so I decided Christianity wasn't for me.I'll never force my beliefs on anyone else, but it does piss me off when Christians try to shove God in my face & change my mind or "save" me, or whatever.I was@a wedding recently &when the minister said"let us pray"I bowed my head out of respect to the bride&groom, but instead of praying I just sat there thinking about what a nice couple they were.

she could tell you wernt praying? Wow that woman has powers I'd be afraidI was at a wedding recently and when the minister said "let us pray" I bowed my head out of respect to the bride and groom, but instead of praying I just sat there thinking about what a nice couple they were. The mother of the groom gave me a dirty look and said "stop shoving your atheism down our throats!" I guess that marriage is doomed.

Depends. Strong atheists = arrogant deluded and hypocritical. Weak atheists = honest, respectfull, people I can get along with.
-
Well that's a generalisation not all fit this glove

At first when people told they were athiest I was like um...O_O. But whatever floats your boat, I have friends of many different faiths. I don't judge people.
Just like any religion they have their wackos.

Oh sorry I wasn't thinking- I thought Rhino was responding to a comment rather than the original question posed by the OP😼😼😼

don't you think it'd be a bigger insult (or at least less socially acceptable) if you were to make it a point to refuse to participate or excuse yourself from the prayer? I mean, i don't pretend, I just keep my mouth shut & blend in.
I added the last part to show that no one really knows what another person's beliefs are. If somebody asks me I will tell them, but I prefer to keep it to myself. That said, it would be an insult to your religion if I were to pretend to believe just to not rock the boat. -

Is this supposed to make sense? Are you saying you only like the atheists that you can win an argument with? I have the opposite problem, I've never met a real Christian. Actually I probably have, but they were such good Christians that they didn't feel the need to brag about it.Depends. Strong atheists = arrogant deluded and hypocritical. Weak atheists = honest, respectfull, people I can get along with.
actually you can't win an argument with a weak atheist due to the logic of their position. Strong atheism is massivly flawed yet they act as if it's not.
You do know the difference between a strong and weak atheist right? Sometimes they call it positive and negative atheism
-
The definition of "strong" and "weak" atheism is a bit messed up when Richard Dawkins is technically a "weak" atheist
-
Like I said in the other topic.. It's all to keep us sane.. I honestly think we can't handle the truth so along the way we make up storys.. Either way believe what you want, your the one that has to die when it's ur time.. That's what I feel
-
I don't mind them as long as they don't act like hypocritical dicks and say shit like, "Stop shoving your beliefs down people's throats! God isn't real, dumbass!"

We pray at least three times a day in my school it's really annoying

Lol no most of the schools are owned and run by the Catholic Church and most of our past leaders have been either supportive of or deferential to the Church.Scroobius Pip wrote:
That's surprising. You live in Ireland, right? You'd think Irish officials would have learned their lesson about institutionalized religion during the last century's turmoil. We pray at least three times a day in my school it's really annoying
The sale of alcohol is banned by law on Good Friday -
I just don't agree with them but they aren't bad people. I have atheist friends.
-
Wasteful. They're missing out on the good stuff. And they're life seems useless to me. Each day is the same, that's just terrible.
-
I don't have anything against atheists I mean u believe what u wanna believe. I don't like when they think they have the answer to everything and act all uppity tho, very annoying
