Resetting Skill Points

This might have some form of abuse that Mystery will promptly point out to me, but when I started playing I wasted points in attack because I didn't know any better. Maybe you have to pay money or don points to a reset purchase?
-
I think nearly everyone's put some points into attk/def before realizing that it was a bad idea. You could reset your mobster to start over. I think it's fine right now, you learn from mistakes by having to deal with them. Also, depending how much a reset would cost people would reset all the time to move all points into energy when doing loot runs, then all points into stam when at war.

But you could maybe only do it say once a week + if it was like 500dp, people wouldn't do it over and over? -
It wouldn't be used as a reset to reclaim lost atk/def tho. With that 500 DP I could buy 30 skill points directly. It would still be used to juggle skill points around. It won't work because you can make it expensive to curb the juggling but then it won't be used at all for what it's meant. But, if you make it cheaper so that you reset you skill points people will abuse it then.

What nick needs to do is make att/def useful. It's the biggest flaw of the game

How exactly is it not fair? I did the same thing, not knowing anyone at all who played when i started, and not knowing how to navigate the forums or to go to websites. There are hundreds of forum threads to sift through, alot of sarcasm, ive said before if putting points in attack and defense are useless why have them? When you first start, if you dont have anyone directly tell you not to use them there it would be a simple mistake to make and an irreversable one at that. I wouldnt have a problem with them either if the points in attack and defence actually meant something.

Maybe the once a week or maybe even month would make sure people don't abuse it for your reason. You can't really be safe with a long time frame like that. Imagine being caught in a war with no Stam...§αʋcɛ☠BʘՏՏ wrote:

This has been suggested many times. The only "fair" way would be to allow 1 "lifetime" reset of skill points. Maybe even not allow it until level 50 so that players wouldn't do it in the beginning, not understanding its purpose. To be truly "fair" it would need to be free.
Allowing players to change it often with don points could throw things out of balance, so I think that's a bad idea.
-
Maybe just allow you to reclaim the skill
points from atk/def -
Maybe it could cost dp according to level or each time you do it it more next time
-
*costs

I agree. They have no impact on stats so phase them out. To adjust them now could be detrimental to the balance of the game and we're not gonna get a 1 time dp reset.LIONFURY wrote:

How about if Nick removes attack and Defence from the game and refunds the skill points from those who added any into those traits? No way there could be abuse in that, right? No imbalance just people getting there wasted points back.LIONFURY wrote:

I think Nick likes the money he gets from people buying skill points to make up for the ones they wasted. Only possible reason he wouldnt have fixed it by now. In every other game, Att/def are a percentage increase of your totals, so that's what new players expect them to be here. Personally im for changing ATt/def to percentage increase, but I understand how it could unbalance the game.

Also I've seen alot of comments lately from folks almost criticizing nick for making money. Do you not think it takes money to run servers? Should he be doing all his coding for free? He may even have a few employees wages to pay. Maybe you should be doing your job for free. I think we have it pretty good were he isn't requiring a purchase, don points are optional so stop bitching about him making money.

@SauceBoss
Think before you type. I wasnt complaining about nick making money. I was complaining about there being a flaw in the game, and him not doing something about it because he wants the money from players buying replacement skill points. How is that fair at all? Nick is entitled to the money he makes. But he shouldn't make money because of and easy fix that he refuses to make. So next time, read the post before you start "bitching" please. -
The bit about players complaining about nick making money was more of a general statement hence the "I've seen alot of folks lately", but you are included part of that group.
Who are you to say what he should and shouldn't make money off of? He's not robbing people, people are willingly buying these RP packages. Your talk of 'easy fixes' is BS, there is an easy fix. It's a mobster reset. So perhaps instead you should think before you post.

It's his game. If it's so horrible that someone's put points into atk/def than a resets isn't so bad. If the game is so broken and bad and you disagree with it, he's also not holding you hostage, you can leave.
-
It's not broken, the points do exactly what they say they do. The information to not put points into those categories (because we consider them not worth it) is everywhere! Players have no one to blame but themselves if they don't look for info first on where it's best to invest points.

@mystery
You know that the majority of people who get a new game don't go looking on the forums first thing. When you start out you don't know be ayse the in game help section does not warn you about that. -
You guys want to talk unfair? Here's one for you. When I started playing there was nothing in the forums saying not to buy these points. As a matter of fact they used to say we should get them. I was here for two months before their lack of usefulness became apparent. Now I bought my way out of the issue. Why should you get a free ride when you were given a hell of a lot more warning all around you than I ever was? Funny thing is not once have I ever bitched about the points I wasted. Just used what I have to solve the problem. No less should be expected of the rest of you. To do a stat reset would be unfair to those that have already solved their own mistakes themselves.

Here's one for you. I want a level reset. No one told me that leveling up so fast would raise the amount of turf that could be taken from me. This and the 10% advantage being no longer open to me have made my character not as useful as it could be. If you guys get your cheap way out of wasted points I want my cheap way out of having to strategize harder. So reset my level please nick :)
