Holiday Mode/ Sleep Mode
Forums › Suggestions & Feedback › Holiday Mode/ Sleep Mode-
Some players may be absent for a few days/ weeks and be unable to reach the Internet at all during that time. I think that there should be some way to set their account to "sleep". This would freeze it, meaning it would be invulnerable to attacks but also unable to do or earn ANYTHING.
So say a mobster was going to be absent for some time. He could
go into "sleep" or "holiday mode" and be unable to come out of it for at least, say, two weeks. When the mobster got back their profile would be exactly as they left it. I have played other similar games where this feature has worked without a problem. I think that this topic is very important and should be further discussed. -
Good idea, though some safeguards would be needed to prevent exploits. What other games have this feature?
-
Yes safeguards are definitely needed. Hmm the game I was thinking of is called Ikariam. It's a free game on the Internet. It's quite similar to this except that it's themed on ancient Greece, doesn't use GPS and is of course vastly inferior to this gem of a game!!!
-
I think the safeguards in Ikariam were along the lines of:
-Once you had entered holiday mode, you were committed to it for
two weeks (or whatever the time was, I can't remember) and couldn't undo it.
- This feature could not be used again and again
- A natural safeguard was that everyone around you was growing while you remained static, so when you returned you were still somewhat weaker -
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
-
How about that you had to plan it in advance? Say it came in 5 days after activation. Then it would be ideal for holidays and could not be as easily exploited as an emergency defence.

Hehe, I've thought of a name for the potential feature "IRS Investigation"
-
I like the name... And the idea, of course.
-
Should have a harsher penalty in the bank too via x percent a day just to keep people from taking a bunch of turfs in a day and going into sleep mode over and over again for a while to avoid a vendetta. That or add a max days sleep.
-
Do real life mobsters get to call time out like this. No, the idea does not fit the game

Great idea this needs to be seen bumpaty bump

Hmm very interesting responses here

If u're gonna be out of the game for a while call it "jail time " . suggest you also have a penalty such as losing 50% of your defense value.
-
Wish I had such a feature pn my xmas 2 week no internet holiday. Would be fantastic!

the suggestion from Scoobius is that you would be invulnerable whilst in "sleep" mode, so halving defence wouldn't really make sense.
Excellent idea to have this mode though, and I think having to give a few days notice, with the option to cancel right up until it activates, with a minimum 7 days "sleep", and perhaps no maximum limit at all, even if you take a year out!
-
Just think of how tiny your mob would be in comparison by then, lol. So it isn't really any advantage to take extensive "sleeps"
also, assets should definitely be frozen, and force all your cash into the bank.
-
Cannot remember which game had this feature but could activate holiday for a number of weeks.
In this period could not be attacked but also earned no money. -
Sleep mode for holiday would be good. It would have to be completely doamnt though, so you can't be attacked, but can't earn money either.
All that happens is you give someone else your holiday period time to grow. -
I think the realistic approach is better. If you are a capo and leave you turf, you get run over.
In fact, I think we should have decay factor if someone doesn't log in for 2 weeks, their income is decreased by 25% 1 month 50% decrease and out 2 months they stop accruing. This could help for mule accounts too.
-
But what about the small players who will have nothing left if they're absent for more than a day?
-
How about Another Player looks after your account for a price.protection banking money and looking after the defence side,if you had no-one to take over for a week or so there could be a page offering to do this for a cost (points or cash)by players who could offer protection
What do you think? -
I've seen that work in other games before, so maybe it could work here too
-
Ya know, this could work with accounts that become innactive after a long period of time as well. By automatically setting a sleep timer if your account is innactive for a length of time. This will include everything said above AND temporarily taking that person off of everone's mob list until they were to come back and take their account off of sleep or standby. Not sure how difficult making it automated for innactive accounts would be.
-
With this option, their acount wouldn't be lost and they could always come back whether it be a few weeks or a couple oh months or longer.
-
That sounds good. Although I think there should be some indication on the turf map that the player is absent
