Sleep mode for holiday would be good. It would have to be completely doamnt though, so you can't be attacked, but can't earn money either.
All that happens is you give someone else your holiday period time to grow.ya totally agree with it, cos of my work, sailor, can't access into any network at most of the time, so if have sleep mode, I can freeze my account, until i'm unfreeze.

Hmm anyone willing to do a summary of the best ideas here and what safeguards will work best?

Summary (I'm not for or against these ideas; I'm just summarizing.)
There seem to be 2 main ideas here:
1) Inactivity by choice, i.e. putting your account into sleep mode (The IRS Investigatin/RICO Case.)
2) Inactivity by default, i.e. a person appears to have stopped playing the game (Prison Time). For the 1st idea (IRS/RICO) a person has chosen to put their account into sleep mode. A) They must schedule this ahead of time (the suggestion was 5 days, although it may depend more on how much notice Nick would need). You also have the ability to cancel sleep mode up until the time your account enters sleep mode (again this dependeds on feasibilty for Nick.) B) Sleep mode has a minimum period (such as 1-2 weeks) but no maximum period. Once you have entered sleep mode, you cannot leave until the minimum time has passed.
-
C) You cannot constantly keep putting your account into sleep mode. I think the best route here might be that after your account comes out of sleep mode, it cannot enter sleep mode again until a certain number of days have passed (maybe a month?) Another idea is that you would have to use respect points to put your account in sleep mode. D) While you are in sleep mode your account is completely static. This means that you do not earn any money, nor can anyone attack you. It would be helpful to have an indication on the turf map & the player's profile when the account is in sleep mode. E) Finally, once the scheduled time has passed, the account automatically becomes active again, whether or not the player logs in.

There was also a suggestion about allowing another player to look after someone's account and paying them with referal points or cash. Without physically possessing another person's iPhone, I'm not sure how someone would access another person's account. That would be a question for Nick.

The second idea (Prison Time) occurs when a player becomes inactive by default, i.e. they have stopped logging into their account. A) How long until they are considered inactive? The only suggestion I have seen is 2 weeks (which seems a bit short to me). B) It was suggested that after 2 weeks their income is decreased by 25%, after 1 month by 50%, and after 2 months they have no income. It was suggested that all the RICO laws from above apply, however, I think others should be allowed to attack them & their turf, otherwise they'd have an unfair advantage.

C) It was suggested that they be removed from everyone's mob lists until such time as their account becomes active again. This is really the main issue and a much larger issue than anything else. It has been discussed in multiple threads with no obvious solution. Besides the obvious implications it has for older & newer members, it seems like it could be a complicated thing for Nick to implement. I'm not sure what it would entail to have to remove each inactive player from everyone's mob list, and then possibly add them back if the person reactivates their account? (The end.)

The more I think about this the more useful I think it would be, especially for the smaller players. You find when you start and are small that you really need to be all over the game all the time. When you get big then this is not nearly as important (thankfully) as small guys can take nothing from you and you get to an impasse state with the other big guys.
The frozen earnings thing though, I'm not sure why as a big guy I would commit to being on holiday when I can let things tick away in the background as normal knowing I'm not going to get overrun while I'm away.

The prison time for inactive accounts makes no sense. It discourages them from re-entering the game and appears to limit active game forces from picking at the 'corpse'.
For the IRS, it doesn't make sense to use Don points on top of the other restrictions. Another argument against don points is that this feature makes more sense in the viewpoint of protecting lower level mobsters growing their territory who have less to start with.

I aprove of this idea
and if it xan be implimented in the next week I would appretciate it -
This may be old but it's still a valid idea...
