The Official Beta Geocoder Feedback Thread
Forums › Suggestions & Feedback › The Official Beta Geocoder Feedback Thread-
Hey everyone,
As some of you already know, version 2.26 includes a beta version of a new geocoder. This geocoder should not run into the IP limits that the current Google geocoder does, and is less strict about placing turf on roads/highways (water is still excluded in most countries) – see the version 2.26 announcement in the in-game announcements for details on how to enable the beta.As always, we're interested in your feedback on how the geocoder is working in your area. Is it allowing you to place turf in previously inaccessible locations? Is it not working in your country? Any general feedback?
Thanks in advance!
Nick -
I should add that you won't be able to build turf while the geocoder beta is enabled on your device.
In general, if you can make it to the turf creation screen (i.e. no red error about streets/highways/geocoder limits on the map), then the beta geocoder works in that area. You'll get the beta "Oops, can't create turf" message – only it'll say it's because you have enabled the beta.

So now we can go through all those areas that we really couldn't before correct? Sweet 😺 that's great because I'm starting to run into some dead spots in my hop now.
-
I hate it already. If I upgrade to IOS5, I lose all my customizations and my phone will run worse. My 3GS can't handle it. It sucks that it requires it, I was looking forward to this day.
-
I really like it, hope it goes through soon!
-
Is there any way to make it available for IOS 4.x? I really don't want to have to fuck up my phone for this.

It doesn't effect your phone that much it automatically logs on to ur turf wars when you restartIs there any way to make it available for IOS 4.x? I really don't want to have to fuck up my phone for this.

Pros: map loads up much faster and has beat the dead spots that I didn't like
Cons: update makes the app prone to crash like never before. App has crashed 3 times in less than 20 minutes. One time on thee map, one replying to a PM and one while in the forums. It's not my phone (iPhone 4) because processor hungry apps like Infinity Blade still work fine -
Plus it shows the loading screen everytime I switch to the app. It used to not do that. VERY annoying for someone like me who is a heavy multitasker
-
Lol ok I finally got it to work............NICK I LOVE IT. I can finally get past this damn dead spot....app hasn't crashed yet. PLEASE IMPLEMENT THIS 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

It depends on some system code that's only available on iOS 5.0+ devices. Sorry. Is there any way to make it available for IOS 4.x? I really don't want to have to fuck up my phone for this.

I can now move outside the cities I'm in. Looks good so far.

Went and updated anyways, the backup didn't work.
But on the bright side, this shit is AWESOME! So many new capo titles to grab, as well as some of my old ones becoming safe. -

Thanks you so much nick!
This is going to be an awesome update, I can finally do some of that capo hopping in Mexico I've been wanting to do for a while, but couldn't because most of the country is a dead spot!
I tested it and had no problems at all! 👍 -

Just checked it out, love it. Thanks Nick it did fix a hopping problem I had in Mexico. Hope to see it in effect soon.

I really dislike it. I feel this only further takes away from the gps aspect of the game by making it easier and easier to go anywhere you want.
-
Is it possible to hop over the ocean?
-
Capo of England FTW!
I also notice the highway in Canada me and Doux are on is passable in the beta. Alaska here we come 😃
-
It would've been nicer to only be able to plant turfs near streets like it used to be but without those dead zones... Now we just need a straight line to hop to our destiny which is kinda boring... I liked the old limitations about street planting only, made hopping take a bit more of 'strategy'.
I noticed some capos are misplaced, like 60-100 kms away from the real area. Or a city with a capo of a not actually nearby city in the middle of it, like vatican.
Also noticed some towns lost their streets. I currently own some turfs in a small village and I cant plant any more turfs without beta geocoder because streets completely disappeared.
I noticed a lot of new capos which is always nice to see.
Some lakes here allow to plant turfs on them.
That would be it for now, will keep on testing later. -
Wtf am I gonna do with all these maps I've been saving lol
-
Just checked the bridge to PEI and it appears the entire bridge registers as water turf, has anyone else noticed an issue with bridges over water?
-
I am not sure if this is related, but I have a turf touching another person and it says it is too far away to capture, while another one further away can be captured.

This seems to overcome some deadspots in Hungary, which i have been having real issues with, wasting quite a few maps in the process. Any hint of when this will become live
-
Please also read the no more dead zone post by badmrfrosty for more feedback 👍

I like the idea of less dead spots it will allow players in isolated areas a chance to get into more active areas. I think it will also help in encouraging newer players to hop rather than frustrating them.

Its way too boring to be able to move on straight lines. Is it possible to just fix the current system to recognize streets and highways that are deadzones right now? I have no clue how it works or if its possible, but it would be the best solution.
Moving through whole mountains, unaccesible national parks, jungles, deserts and even lakes is just... way too monotonous, boring and not very gps like.
I like that I will be able to move more, but I dont want a flat map that doesnt require a single bit of strategy to place turfs. -

I agree with this; if turf doesn't need to be near a road or anything then there's no point in even having a map. Just put outlines where the sea is and that's itIts way too boring to be able to move on straight lines. I agree with the above 2 comments. It has to stick to the roads
